Just wondering who we all think will return for next season? No doubt we’ve already re-signed some players so I think our current roster might look something like this

Defence

Mikkelson
Richardson
Louis
Batch

Forwards

Haddad
Myers
Ben Davies
Mosey
Duggan
Rutkis

Looks good to me apart from Haddad .

I'd classify batch as a forward, albeit a defensive one. I was shocked he didn't make the GB squad, particularly as a penalty killing specialist.

Yeah I did think about that when I was the writing the names down. He’s probably classed as more of a forward now isn’t he? But I suppose he might just be used as a utility player

Now we have the chance i think it could be time for a re-build with maybe just 7-8 returnees.

Jardine
Louis
Mosey
Batch

Duggan
Rutkis
Haddad but i doubt he'll be back.

Players who know the devils set up, experience of EIHL and CHL.

Mikkelson coming in at 33 with so much experience to add.

I'd go along with that. Can see all those returning with Ritchie too. I'd love to see Ben Davies comeback too.

I’d love Jardine to return but I’ll be very surprised he doesn’t end up in a better league. He’s had a great season

Yeah agree, I don't see Jardine returning. I am more optimistic on Haddad, but if he's settled in North America and his team plan on keeping him, then returning here really wouldn't make sense.

Most realistic hopes of (import) returnees will be Evan Mosey and Mark Louis. Looking forward to welcoming back all our amazing British players, hopefully with the addition of Ben Davies.

As for Haddad and Jardine. A very smart move by Lord to give them the C and the A letters to lead his new team (although I am sure they are both very deserving of it)..... let's be honest, after a successful season over there, it is yet another reason for them to decide to stay in South Carolina.

It's going to be exciting welcoming our new players over the coming months. Like other teams in our league who will be rebuilding, post lockdown is going to be a new era, a different way.

Well I can see Haddad and Jardine returning, Greenville is no great shakes, and no C and A is going to alter that, they are there to play and to earn a income for me that’s it. So these guys plus Dixon Louis and the Brit squad please, add the amazing new signings and we are again the team to beat.

I can see where you’re coming from as far as Haddad is concerned. For me his options will probably be Greenville, Cardiff or retirement. With Jardine tho I don’t think it’s a question of just Greenville or Cardiff, I think he will get some very tasty offers.

I can't see any of the Bits players coming back. They and Lordo are doing well. I don't think we will see Louis either, he has a bigger pond to play in these days. We might lose Batch to Manchester but I'd love to see him back with us. TBH I think the only returnees are likely to be our Brits and Ben Davies. I am doubtful on Bownsy too especially if he has a good spell with the GB team. But he has an on form Whistle to outshine.

Now is the time to build a new core in the Skalde mould and see where that takes us.

As an aside, who thinks Mikkelson has been brought in as potential Captain?

I’ll be surprised if Bowns returns. I get the feeling that both parties feel it’s time to move on. Bownsy was a great servant but it’s definitely time to move on in my opinion. I appreciate it’s a big plus to have a number one British netminder but i think we’ll sign a North American goalie.

You can probably add Dixon to the non returnees.
On Wally's 2 Ales podcast it sounds like he's retired

I agree, I don’t think Bowns is the player he was a few years ago (and he wasn’t consistent in his final year with us either) but has been unlucky with a very serious injury last year. I’m really hoping we go with a stud NM this year - the best import goalie we can possibly afford (alongside a solid backup to push eachother for starts, no problem if that is Bowns, budget permitting).
