Tbh I think his performances had dropped off, I'm sure he'll ice a bit for Lordo in Greenville but my money is on him to retire at the end of the season.
When you look at who was coaching last season, none of the players really had a chance to get into form and prove themselves because they either got benched for 7 games with no real reason behind it or they got away with being sub par all season long because they knew the coach would still ice them.

I dare say this season Lou could really open alot of people's eyes as lordo is a coach who knows how to get the best out of the players, Dupont barely knew how to do drills.

I'm sure Lordo will get the best out of Lou in Greencille but there's a reason why we didn't re-sign him. He's at the tail end of his career & I daresay Batch is in a similar position unless he turns it around.

Out of the two of them I'd of kept Lou but as big a critic as I have been about batch over the last few seasons of watching him look like he's giving up I'd be first to cheer him on if he turned it around and had a stellar season

Spot on and the guy who levelled Barrow thinks he is bloody King Kong, he has been trying to put it about, Steelers fans think he is the toughest guy in the league, this needs rectifying and the sooner the better.
But by whom? we don't possess

By whom? we don't possess that guy sadly, this kind of stuff will happen more this season without a deterrent, sad but true.

How about after the 5 minute penalty, you get our biggest, toughest guy to smash one of their skilled players into the boards? Seems a perfectly reasonable response to me, if we had one! In fact, thinking about it more, who cares if it screwed up the 5 minute PP? This is pre season and hits like that on one of our best players is just not acceptable (pre season or regular season) and has to be answered in kind. We're the Cardiff Devils, we've never really tolerated shit like that in our own barn.
Agree that next shift one of our boys should've offered one their skilled boys no choice but to drop the glove and batter seven swords of shite out of him, who knows that hit on barrow could be out for a month or 2 with severe concussion and steelers are laughing at us knowing devils won't do anything next steelers are at our barn, I know it was a pp but who cares its a friendly, as it stands now steelers know they can do the same again and just skate off after mugging us again, it's criminal we get bullied in our own barn, needs to be addressed ASAP.

What irritates me is that we knew this would happen. We knew that we needed a tough guy. We knew that the game has not changed. We need to play the game as it is, not as we think it should be.

A video came up on my Facebook feed recently of a Sheffield game in the isl era. They had a scumbag called Denis vial who was causing trouble and thought he was the toughest in the league - untouchable. Mike Macwilliam called him out after having a go at one of our guys and put him on the ground with one punch. How I'd love to see that level of protection for this team.

I'd have liked to have sent someone out next shift after the hit on barrow last night to take a run at their goalie to send a message, but a) we don't have anyone like that, and b) it's generally frowned upon.

BTW does anyone know what kicked off with the guy who got thrown out. I don't imagine he'll be back.

It was actually Mike Ware that decked Vial in the house of tin, and also fought him in the WNIR, where Vials shirt was ripped to bits.

I see the weird obsession of screen-shotting posts on here for twitter has returned already:

I’m guessing Mark won’t mind me replying to him on here, but I tend to agree with Moggy. It’s an unnecessary, dangerous and reckless hit. He lifts his body to make the hit (one leg leaves the ice) and puts an arm on Barrow’s back forcing his head further down. It ends up driving Barrow’s head into the plexi, causing injury.

Regular season that’s a minimum 1 game ban for me and then it’s up to DOPS random number generator to decide if it’s any more.

The guy who decked Barrow and who was thrown out is Kevin Tansey, he is a 6ft 2in D Man who thinks he is Mike Tyson, they love him in Sheffield.

If people want to debate a comment that's on here, they should do it on here. I have no time for those individuals who seek to generate social media hits off this forum.

Anyone who doesn't recognise that as a reckless and dangerous hit knows nothing about the game.

With 3 players out we lost in overtime to a team with extra imports so its not all bad. It was much better performance than last night when Steelers dominated us for most of the game. I agree we lack an enforcer but talk about Fournier and Bordeleau are a bit rose tinted. Neither were good players. Yes Bordeleau had presence but he only fought twice (to the same guy ) and lost them both. Fournier was a liability on and off the ice. Batch and Lou were both struggling last year and I thought one of them might go but I guess Batch being British saved him.
This team is not perfect but it has been great watching 4 very capable lines. Barrow went under the radar with many here saying they were underwhelmed by the signing but I think he will end up replacing Crandall on the second and deservedly so.

Apparently the fan got kicked out for throwing a pint at a Steeler.

The orange section of EIHL twitter is proper gutter trash. Do my best not to rise to it but there are some absolute weapons and I often bite.

Like a few other fanbases they seem to have an unhealthily obsession with screenshotting posts on here and then trying to ridicule people for having an opinion different to them. I'd expect better, but these are the Orange - so I don't.

That sort of behaviour is unacceptable. That along with his gestures while being led out deserve punishment. I suppose we should be grateful that the amount some seem to drink doesn't cause more problems.

There's also an element in teal who like to do the same, and among our own fan base.

Agree with your sentiments, we were gonna be team tough and some on here thought it a good idea but the harsh reality of this league is starting to show through, going into a season without a recognised tough no nonsense player is slightly foolish. Teams will come to our barn a nd feel they can throw their weight around and get away with it.
If Sheffield keep playing against us the way they did last night I fear we will lose to them on a regular basis.
I'm not totally bothered about the result it's the manner in which we had no answer to their physicality.
People say the game has changed and there's no place for tough guys as we'll be team tough, well I think a few doubts may have surfaced after that beating we received last night.

It's totally unacceptable but fortunately it's rare. I imagine a ban is in order for that numpty.

Tonight there did seem to be a couple of issues which some will say it's because it's still early in the season ...but we have had plenty of warm up games to get rid of some of these

Telegraphed pass...we seem to love these ...which is fine but make it hard of the opposition too many times they were weak on ice passes they at least need to be lifted

No look passes , again fine if you know the oppo is... to many had a steelers player just waiting...putting us on the back foot especially in our d zone

With regards to the hit.... a purposely dirty hit ....in a warm up game this is not needed

Batch....in fairness to him ...earlier on Crawford told him not to get involved in a scuffle by our net.

Sorry but 2 of the steelers go our nm would want back, one straight through the 5 hole and the other going into no man's land and getting punished for it

Tiredness....if the boys were knackered in this game....God help them through the season....that's when you have to play smart percentage hockey....which we didn't we played the same way

One thing I did dislike which we used to do under Lordo is if they ice the puck we are straight up there ready for the face off giving them no time to get a breather ...to many times tonight we ambled up

Didn't a Steeler then throw the cup back in to the crowd, with the cup on the end of their stick, at a group of female fans? Not wishing to cause trouble or condone the actions of a fan who threw a drink but I'm sure I saw I cup get thrown back in.

I don't know about that. All I could see from the other side of the rink was the fan being pointed out and then being escorted from his seat.
