Belfast Giants will also be sponsored by O2. Thats not going to help with the gap between them and the rest of the league

A deal and process that was 5 years in the making. Work started on it in 2021. Only England rugby (men and women) and Arsenal have ever had short sponsorships from O2 and it is likely they’ll be exclusive shirt sponsors so there’ll be no other sponsorship on the Giants shirts next year.

A mammoth investment for The Giants, the arena, the whole Odyssey complex and the city by the sounds of it based on the interview with the chairman of The Giants on AVFTB last night. He said it would allow Belfast to start looking at what their future ambitions will be beyond the British game, e.g. attracting higher calibre tournaments to the arena on top of the Friendship 4 like AHL tournaments, making the Giants brand go global and even winning the CHL!

They’re starting with a 3-on-3 summer hockey tournament in June. Sounds like the stakes have been raised on several levels.

Hope it attracts other big sponsors to the league too.

And Adam Keefe and his coaches are starting to build next year’s squad so he’s not going anywhere else anytime soon.

Giants leading on the ice and off it.

Ironically, per my comment top of page 17 in the ‘Season ticket news’ thread, IMO this is where the club should be lazer focusing their efforts in terms of income generation rather than hitting the fans for 20%.

Now they got extra income i can see a 10
or 12 new players for next season as long as Barrow is not 1 of them as rumoured.

Love what the Giants Organisation is achieving. It's not jealousy from other club's fans, it's pure envy. We can only look on in awe..and dream that it could happen one day here at our Club.
Big profile and influence for Giants beyond the UK means higher profile for the UK leagues...let's hope, longterm, all teams will benefit from that.

Is it right that belfast as league winners are in the conti cup as there is no place for a GB team in the CHL if that is true then the playoff winners may not be in conti cup.

The only drawback I can see here is that Belfast could be so much better than the other clubs in the eihl due to a larger budget than even this season that their games could become a stroll in the park for them, I'm assuming that they'll be too strong for other teams especially ones that traditionally get hammered on a regular basis anyway.
Them continually winning virtually everything wouldn't be good for the league imo. The rest of us need to set our ambitions on following in their footsteps.
The extra exposure the league may get from this could be nullified by one team doing a Real Madrid every season and being too good for the league.

How can anyone follow in their footsteps, when very few have their facilities etc etc.

I can see top teams joining forces with a European league in years to come and lesser clubs will stay in the elite league if their is one or drop to next level, especially if our league are not attracting new teams which is needed as the last few seasons is same old teams and no doubt next season the same.

Fans will still watch it whether there are 6, 8, 10 imports, therefore the EIHL should be looking a bit more long term to protect the game and the league. Make it more of an even playing field so it’s a more exciting product. If Belfast are going to be the Man City of Ice Hockey then it’s going to get pretty boring quite quickly!

I wasn't referring to rink size/capacity/facilities more to do with seeking a lucrative major sponsor, Belfast have proved here that they are out there and could be interested in getting involved. Yes our rink is smaller but in ice hockey circles we're quite a big deal both locally and to a lesser degree nationally.

But if you drop it to 10 imports you need 9 to 10 brits, times 10 teams that’s 90 -100 brits where are they going to come from. So Giants, Steelers , and Panthers take the top 30 if that’s going to make a level playing field I don’t think so. No disrespect to the Brits but the level of play is going to drop a lot and certainly won’t be a more exciting product and who is going to accept that.
