Not the most interesting of topics, but has IHUK or the Elite League provided any guidance? What happens to import players, visa’s etc etc ? Also what happens to the Giants being based in Northern Ireland ?

No actual idea but I would hazard a guess that the work permit situation won't be affected. They've removed the 3 eu passport players so you could have 14 Americans/Canadiens which wouldn't be affected by this. In terms of Belfast they're part of the UK so business as usual.

Again not sure at all so happy to be proved wrong

They all get paid less as the pound continues to crash ?
Don't they get paid in £?

If so they don't get paid less just the value changes from day to day. When the chose to repatriate their money will, of course, affect their financial position and obviously the exchange rates will impact their decision to take the pay or not

That’s a really good point actually. If sterling continues its decline/bombs, repatriating GBP to CAD or US$ could be quite painful for players. Certainly could make playing in the U.K. less attractive.

The fluctuation of the GB pound against the dollar problem has always been there.
Just having a bit of a bad spell at the moment!
I still think compared to some of the lower leagues in North America we offer a fair deal. Stability, housing, car , plenty ice time etc.

The other side of the coin is if a player (let’s say an ex NHLer towards the end of his career) has savings in CAD or US$, then they will likely go further in the UK than at home, making it potentially more appealing to play here as a lifestyle choice for a few years.
