this team looks weaker to me forward wise.no snipers to talk of yet.the finnish guy is not a scorer,his points production is fairly low.i think letting perlini go is a big mistake and if he goes to nottingham it could well be the difference maker between us and them especially as they signed larkin who is a brit with lots of experience in north america.we will have a real good defence but are we going to score enough goals to win the league?
Well the professionals think so, and that’s good enough for most of us. As for scoring that’s like saying a player for Man City/ Arsenal won’t score much for Accrington Stanley, Yaremko over a season will be just fine, and there’s still more to come have faith in people who know what they are doing.

Moaning about scoring power exactly like last year.
Very rare I comment on here any more but I vaguely remember saying at around this time last year that we'd be ok not scoring as many because we now have a top drawer defense coach. Same applies this year, keep things tight and you don't have to score 5 to win a game.
The core of the team is back and improvements have been made.

If the Larkin signed at Panthers was Dylan Larkin, then there is cause to worry! In order to make room and opportunity for our younger, developing British players like Harewood and meet the quota, someone had to move on.....Perlini is approaching the twilight of his career, more likely on a downward trajectory in the future.
Great to see the return of Estes and Helfesen confirmed. Last year's D was one of the best in the Devils recent history and to strengthen it with the addition of Welsh is extremely impressive.
Fingers crossed that Yaremko stays fit this year. We saw pre-season what he could offer and we definitely missed it mid-season when he was injured despite the addition of Ferguson. If we can get a full season out of him he could be good for around 20 goals which would be a big way towards what we were short of compared to Belfast.
Mieho is a fascinating signing - arguably the most exciting of the summer so far. I'm struggling to think of any players who have played that consistently in Liiga and then come to the EIHL. Critics may point out that he was mostly on the 4th line (in CHL anyway) but when you add in the facts he was an A for much of his time and then played a season and a half in the SHL, well I can't wait to see how he plays over here.
Across 10 years in the Liiga he averaged 0.33 points per game.
As a comparison, Mikko Juusola played just 5 seasons and averaged 0.29 points per game. And in his first two seasons for Sheffield he averaged around a point a game before last season's injury.

we need kotos,macdonald,brandt for the 4th line as we have'nt seemed to signed anyone yet to go with davies and duggan.i also think we need a replacement for sanford if he's going.our defence and netminding is probably one of the best in the league.they say defence wins championships so we will be challenging for the league and further on down the line we can always bring in a goal scorer if needed,
i had't seen the podcasts.so we will be going with 3 lines of 3 import forwards and a line of all brits forwards.it will be very interesting to see who our final 3 forwards are then.

Hello to my Inferno family! Had a great time with everybody at the Summit. I thought I'd give you a bit more colour on the Mieho signing. We had three "high end" forwards that we were looking at - the other two with more traditional resume's for our league. Guys that had been good offensive contributors at much lower levels. But Thommo is someone that does his work. He watched hundreds of hours of film on all of them and learned the backstories on each. With Panu, he learned of the broken leg that he suffered that cost his a lot of games and hurt his statistics. He talked to players and coaches that rave about his speed and skill. He spent a great amount of time with Panu himself about what his motivation was to join the Devils and a lot of that was that he really wanted to elevate his offensive game - which he's very confident in - because he's been pigeonholed most of his career just because of his size and physicality.

But when Thommo broke down his game film, he saw every quality in Panu that he needs to be a top offensive force in our league. So while nothing is guaranteed in sport, I got extremely excited about this guy after talking to Thommo. To have a big guy with that kind of talent and physicality on one of our top lines to me is an absolute home run.
A couple more signings to come but I'm loving how this team is coming together. Significant upgrade from last year's for me.
