29 year-old right-sided defenceman on second all-star team last year - certain not to be a spare so will be replacing Estes, Mosey or Richardson.

Think mosey would be favourite to go as rumoured retiring, richie a brit so would be replaced by a brit if retiring , shocked if estes goes .

Very good signing, and a very good player with a wicked pedigree,Also 40 points from 54 games.Think this off season will be full of good news can’t fault it.

I remember being shocked when Manchester signed him, his CV prior to then is pretty much as good as it gets for the league. 29 points in the DEL is superb.

My favourite outcome would be for Mosey, and Evan stays as a versatile spare.

Although his +/- is only +1 for the season as a whole, interestingly if you look at the number of goals Manchester scored whilst Welsh was on the ice (shown here as per 60 mintues of his ice time) =3.62, and then look at the number of goals Manchester conceded whilst Welsh was on the ice =2.71, the difference is +0.91 - figure is exactly the same as Jimmy Oligny's for last season - both joint 11th on the list of defenceman.

Statement signing for me. Standout player for Storm last season and you’d bet every team would have been interested in him this summer. Fantastic that we’ve got him signed up so quickly.

With regards to who he replaces, I’m guessing we re looking at a D roster of 7 again so effectively MacLean/Brodie Kay.

Assuming the roster graphic published by the Devils is accurate, we will begin the season with 22 players, so a 7th D and a 13th forward seems likely and of course Mosey can play both if he stays.
