Nostalgia aside, I’m not sure about this one. If his name wasn’t Sacratini then a signing from NCAA III would raise some concerns, even more so as we were told that 20% increase was going into the team!

I hope he does well, but I was hoping the Brit core would have been a bit stronger. I’m guessing if Bayley is full time then Neilson won’t now be coming.

He's already signed in France, so no.

A long way to go before we see the full line up but if this signing is in the context of Sacratini being effectively the 22nd player in the roster to provide competition for Brits places (I appreciate that is my assumption, not yet proven) as opposed to a top 9 player then it could prove to be a good piece of business and could free up more money for the top players. And in fairness to Devils, as Steve King mentioned a few weeks ago, only some of the ticket price increase can go into the team as the rest will be for increased accommodation rental costs, increased mortgage costs, increased equipment costs, increased energy costs, increased travel and hotel costs, etc., etc.

Let's see the guy play before the doomsayers storm the Bastille, eh?

I must confess to already feeling bruised by being constantly whomped by this 20% stick. It's 20 % of a number unknown to those who keep using it. How about we let the Coach and the Boss build their team?

Personally thrilled by this. I have followed Jake through his Parents and I like everything i have seen about his character, ability and work ethic.

Welcome home.

Out of the potential Brits, only Bayley Harewood meets the age criteria for being a two-way player - Sacratini needed to be 24 on 1st August to count and will be too old for that, so has to be a full-time player.
I stand corrected on that pipe dream then. Sure there’s a logic to that position somewhere. A lack of mobility between EIHL and NIHL for Brits feels a self inflicted limitation to progress but there will be a justification I’m sure.

Ignore the narrative about signing a player from NCAA3. That’s a nothing burger. Are you signing a Brit that is better than what is available whether that be domestically or repatriating one from abroad. On the scale of available British players I’d say Jake will be up there so makes it a good signing.

I suspect Perlini might not return which opens a slot for Harewood in a role that hopefully will suit him more than as a 4th liner which isn’t his natural game. You’re then looking to see if any others might go or if Jake is 6th Brit. If he’s 6th Brit that’s good depth.

The pressure wouldn’t be on him to perform but for Bayley to elevate to the upper echelon of Brit players and establish himself as a legit EIHL player.

I don’t share the concern of a nostalgia signing. I think that just helped with recruitment.

Could the club save money by coach travel rather than fly to scottish games, after all its a coach to airport flight to Scotland, coach travel to hotel and games played in Scotland, then coach back to airport fly back home then another coach, alternatively 1 coach up and back , be intresting costings on that, and money saved , I know fans will moan it won't help the team , but hey ho we flew to Scotland last season and didnt have a good return up there did we , apart from Belfast we are the only other club that fly to Scotland. The savings could be significant i should imagine. That could go towards the up and coming seating if it gets go ahead ...just saying.

There again we are the furthest team from Scotland , and travelling expenses can be put down against tax and the team can be there within 4 hrs from rink to rink, instead of hrs and hrs travelling, drivers hrs needing to stop, sitting down for 6/7 hrs, fuel alone would be close to £1,000 plus the rental of the bus and drivers 2 day wage. Chuck in weather road conditions and surely the way to go is to fly, and that’s probably why they do it.

His father and family will be proud of the continued Devils connection. Don't suppose there is a lot of expense involved in the contract either. PT likes to give promising youngsters an opportunity to develop their game, spending time around experienced veterans on the team, even if their own icetime is a bit curtailed.

Now makes it interesting to see how our British player situation pans out on the roster. I can see at least one veteran Brit either retiring or moving on. And hopefully this is Harewood's year for the permenant call up.

If harewood hasn't the promised full time devils call up , he will look elsewhere, he's proved he's capable in the games he played last season, and that would give us possible 4 welsh players in the squad, Davis, harewood, sacratini, and Harry Thomas.

Just trying to save the organisation money in the climate as it is at the moment..just a suggestion. Be intresting if tkts be frozen for the 27/28 season after 26/27 hike... just saying

I would like to see Harewood have a full season with us, and given a fair shake off the ice time. He certainly looks like he has the ability to do well. Always good to have Welsh lads breaking thru and Harewood looks the part.

I think the British status is the only thing that’s giving him a shot. As an import there’s no way we’d be looking at NCAAIII players.
He’s a 2–3 year development project, no question, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him suit up in Bristol at some point along the way.

He will be unfairly compared to his father no matter what, but nobody should expect Jake to hit the ground running and start piling up points. As others have noted, this is essentially the equivalent of signing a solid (North America trained) NIHL player with a nose for goal, who fills a Brit spot, and those aren’t exactly growing on trees in Cardiff right now.

We need to invest in young British talent/development, as within a year or two we’re going to see the available talent pool of experienced EIHL players shrink.

He can not play for bristol, he unable to be an 2 way player due to rules of the league

Though he cannot be counted as an EIHL 2-way and must take one of the roster places, could he be loaned to the Pitballs to get game time if not playing regularly for the Devils. Cole Shudra, who is also too old to be classed as a 2-way, played 6 league games for the Steeldogs last year, while contracted to the Steelers.

Yes I think we could loan him out to whoever, but for the purposes of EIHL roster registration and rules he will take up one of our slots for signings and imports etc
