I don’t disagree with much of that, especially the competitiveness of the league but what tonight showed for me was how important the Oli line is. They started well and then couldn’t get going in the 2nd due to so much pk time. I can only offer that as some explanation as to why others weren’t firing as well. The game seemed to disrupt the flow and contribution of everyone’s game.
Whilst Caps hit was unfortunate, I know some people are saying it was stupid at 2-0, I don’t entirely disagree, but it was the first period and not the third. If you take that out of his game, I’ll then be moaning about how uncompetitive/physical we are - Brandt was so quiet, I don’t remember a hit or even any agitation so I can only assume that he’s carrying a knock. Barrow worked tirelessly again, he’s a machine then on the flip side, nothing stuck for Joey, the puck constantly bounced off or over his stick. He was trying to get hold of the game but couldn’t.
Bowns just had one of those games all goalies have. He didn’t look dialled in at all. At one point he gave up on a play as he thought they’d scored. It was just one of those games for someone who’s been outstanding this season. I wonder if it’s a chance to give Stoever a shot at redeeming himself against Dundee. I’m not Duggan’s biggest fan but he’s sat for long enough to be chomping at the bit to prove himself. I assume Cap sits tonight anyway so he could come in.
Last word on Mosey. He skates around like a first year rookie not like someone in the twilight of his career, he double shifted again tonight when Cap went off. When he double shifts, he isn’t making up the numbers, he goes on a very aggressive forecheck and creates problems. Very impressive, very reliable and we would have been caught out a few times tonight if it wasn’t for his speed.
No idea how we won. The Clan should feel hard done by but I don’t care. Good teams find a way to win when they aren’t playing well. I’ll take the 2 points. No point being gallant losers at this stage of the season.
