Clan vs Devils - League - 12th Dec 25 - FO 19:30

First 2 periods awesome, died in the third, fairplay to kontos, gets some critics but he’s come up big there when we needed him. Tough tough game and a brilliant result to get the 2 points. We’ve been on the losing end in a couple of close ones this season so nice to see us get one over the line

In fairness we were all over them like a rash in the first, we were physical and they had no answer to that. Then we replaced physical play for idiocy play and then it was all downhill untill the last few minute.

Would really like to know if our players are really mentally strong enough or is it a coaching problem... we played 2 excellent games and play a poor away game yet again. A pattern that seems to be repeating itself over and over again Very comfortable at 2-0 and mentally switched off for the rest of the game. Slow PP yet again and made us look average, but good PK. we were very lucky to win tonight.
I am expecting the same excuses, but surely if spectators can see it, so can the coaches?

We won tonight and we are 1 point off top, it’s not all doom and gloom

it just baffles me how we can play so well and then be a totally different team. We are consitantly incositant with the way we play. Its not a one off thing and even the players admit it

You are going to get that though across the league due to the high competitiveness in the league right now. This is mentioned time after time. Every game is tough, and when you play away from home, it’s even tougher. We all know this already.

We are not going to go to Glasgow and win 5-1. Scrapping a win is just as good for me - it’s a tough place to go. If we scrape a win tonight again at Dundee I’ll be just as chuffed. Some games we’ll be flying and others not so much. Every team is going through that at the mo with the consistencies and we are second, so much better placed than most - im sure Nottingham, who are sitting pretty at the top right now, will go through the same too in the coming weeks. Agree with the PP comment mind! :)

Yes the pp worries me, to much faffing about trying to get the final pass or walk the puck into net , not enough shots on goal on most pp, look at Sheffield and belfast almost guaranteed to score on pp most games as they get shots on goal.

I don’t disagree with much of that, especially the competitiveness of the league but what tonight showed for me was how important the Oli line is. They started well and then couldn’t get going in the 2nd due to so much pk time. I can only offer that as some explanation as to why others weren’t firing as well. The game seemed to disrupt the flow and contribution of everyone’s game.

Whilst Caps hit was unfortunate, I know some people are saying it was stupid at 2-0, I don’t entirely disagree, but it was the first period and not the third. If you take that out of his game, I’ll then be moaning about how uncompetitive/physical we are - Brandt was so quiet, I don’t remember a hit or even any agitation so I can only assume that he’s carrying a knock. Barrow worked tirelessly again, he’s a machine then on the flip side, nothing stuck for Joey, the puck constantly bounced off or over his stick. He was trying to get hold of the game but couldn’t.
Bowns just had one of those games all goalies have. He didn’t look dialled in at all. At one point he gave up on a play as he thought they’d scored. It was just one of those games for someone who’s been outstanding this season. I wonder if it’s a chance to give Stoever a shot at redeeming himself against Dundee. I’m not Duggan’s biggest fan but he’s sat for long enough to be chomping at the bit to prove himself. I assume Cap sits tonight anyway so he could come in.

Last word on Mosey. He skates around like a first year rookie not like someone in the twilight of his career, he double shifted again tonight when Cap went off. When he double shifts, he isn’t making up the numbers, he goes on a very aggressive forecheck and creates problems. Very impressive, very reliable and we would have been caught out a few times tonight if it wasn’t for his speed.

No idea how we won. The Clan should feel hard done by but I don’t care. Good teams find a way to win when they aren’t playing well. I’ll take the 2 points. No point being gallant losers at this stage of the season.

Let’s not get carried away with the 2nd place, if the teams beneath us win their games in hand we will be 3rd/4th. Unfortunately we ain’t just inconsistent from game to game, it’s now period to period, to take 2 points from Glasgow away is a hard thing to do, but we had them on the ropes and we were playing very good, then someone switched the switch off and we went into very average mode. We have one of the most frustrating teams ever, when we are good we are very very good, but when we are bad we can be awful Thommo was going ballistic in the 3rd. If you have a average team, you have a average team but we can be so much better when we play as we can play.

Some very good points here, before last night I can’t remember caponi getting many hits wrong, and he has put in dozens and dozens of perfect hits so far. He's going to get the odd one wrong every now and again. It’s the nature of the beast. There’s been a lot of praise on here for Nottingham sheffield and Belfast doing what it takes to get over the line and get the 2 points at the end of the game or during OT. Good signs for us we are able to do that late in a game

Pure, pure magic by Sir Joey Martin mesmerising the clan players in O/T then threading the perfect pass to the deadly Sanford to show how to finish and score the winning goal.

I don't think we should be too harsh on the guys. We were cooking on gas until Caponi was ejected which messed up the lines. Their third was a fluke that Bownsy would have stopped 9 times out of 10. Which means with Kontos we would have won in regulation. OT we outplayed them, the cutback and pass from Joey was superb as was Sanny's finish. Our PK was exceptional. The only downer was PP but then that has been a problem since Lord left

Let’s also not get carried away as it’s only December. Long way to go for ALL teams.

Spot on there’s a long way to go, and a lot more hockey to play thankfully. Just need to stay behind the lads and hope for a bit of consistency now. Hopefully starting tonight.
