Well I don't know who 'Gaz' is, I assume that is the commentator. I don't know him but clearly you do, so perhaps it is you that is taking things personally. I have no personal issue with the commentator per se, I am just merely pointing out that the standard of the commentary is below par, certainly so for a chargeable product, and especially so since the club (when defending their decision to change the logo a few years back) stated their desire to open up new income streams by enticing more fans through the online platform and thus charging them £££'s while doing so. Now, the logo thing is old news, the world has moved on since then and I do not wish to open that topic again, however if the club as they stated at the time wanted to pursue new and additional fans through the streaming platform then the better the product is that you are selling then the more likely it will be that you will actually sell it. Otherwise it's all a bit half baked with a 'that will do' outlook.

Again, I am not making this a personal issue, I don't know 'Gaz', I am simply pointing out what I believe is poor commentary on the game stream that prevents me from buying it, but it's not my fault if some of you find reality upsetting.

That's fine. If you don't take the time to learn the names of the commentators (I'm assuming they introduce themselves at the start of the stream) then that's your choice. They certainly introduce themselves on the Devils' podcasts.

The standard of commentary is below par, in your opinion. That doesn't make it fact. I don't know Gaz actually. I'm merely pointing out that his commentary was deemed professional enough to be selected by premier sports for the CHL final.

Ne ver had a webcast, but the highlights of the game gives me enough to stick with the current boys, ok they get excited when a goal is scored, it's like me as a fan get excited to as we are devils fans , try sitting through a belfast commentary highlights or webast, now that is 1 i couldn't sit through, Coventry pair are good if not the best in the lge along with Sheffield, but nowt wrong with ours, keep up the good work volunteers.

Was I don’t think it is now, they used to have that guy screaming and screeching down the mic. Think he is done now, think he has,nt been too well.

I’m still pretty new to the Devils (only about two years in), but from what I’ve seen with commentating — JD is brilliant with the Pitbulls (I always listen in). I haven’t heard enough of him with the Devils yet, but honestly, the current commentators there aren’t great. Commentating needs empathy, and that’s what’s missing.


If JD started commentating for the Devils, I’d definitely tune into the live stream way more often whenever I can’t make it in person — 100%.

I personally play a drinking game during the webcast. Drink everytime you hear "indeed". Im usually on the floor dribbling before the puck drops. JD was really good though, highly rated him.

Likewise, Last season I started putting a £1 into the ‘holiday kitty' every time I heard the commentator screaming "what a save" at the top of his voice.

I remember a few people were very critical of JD when he used to commentate on our games. Saying he likes the sound of his voice too much and that he was too quick to praise the opposition. To be honest I thought he was excellent and a lot of his analysis was top notch. I know I said I don’t really rate our current commentators but I certainly don’t think they’re the worst in the league. They’re probably middle of the pack

I concur. As an exiled Devils fan I have streamed about 90% of the home games for the last few years and definitely appreciate the job that Gareth and Dan do, alongside the insight from Franny. Everyone is welcome to their opinion but I am happy to have these boys and their fun and occasionally irreverent commentary for the foreseeable future.
