In hindsight maybe one or 2 should have been placed on the IR list to get replacements in
But the rules this year state that as soon as a player is placed on the IR they cannot play again for 90 days. Shinkarak is the longest out at the moment and he has been out for 46 days so far and due back very soon. Players on IR cannot come back early if they’ve recovered so if he’d been put on the IR he wouldn’t be able to play until 15th December, and we only have one import slot left to use for the rest of the season outside of IR replacements.

For what it’s worth, despite the result I really enjoyed the game last night, a great battle with great chances at both ends. Love those sort of games. Devils not winning is frustrating but didn’t spoil the game for me in terms of entertainment. We battled throughout, and they did too . Coventry got their tactics right and got their breaks and deserved their luck for their hard work and speed. The puck wouldn’t drop nicely for us in front of goal and we couldn’t convert a couple of breakaways again and missed an open net too with that funny puck bounce off the glass behind the net all when 2-3 behind. Down to 4 D for 43 minutes, of which 2 were maturing Brits, is always going to be tough. The hit to the head was a hit to the head at speed, regardless of whether it was meant or the Blaze player ducked or not, it’s a penalty and too fast a hit for it to be 2 mins so had to be a 5 min with the accompanying automatic game misconduct. DOPS will decide if there were any mitigating factors to exclude a ban.

Really looking forward to more battles like that with Coventry this season, and hoping that with Shinkarak, Fournier, Donaghey and MacWilliam available, we’ll win the majority of our games against them.

There's a lot of the logic and balance in your post, not sure the Inferno is for you. Lol

Absolutely agree. I enjoyed the game last night and as long as the players are giving their all, I don’t have a problem whether we win or lose. Their effort levels were there and that‘s all you can ask for really. Now, if they are not trying, that’s a different kettle of fish and I’ll be the first to complain!

That’s a noticeable difference from previous seasons. I couldn’t question this teams effort and desire, it just isn’t clicking for them right now. Last season, effort, was a big issue for me.

I agree with some previous posters that we didn't play too badly against the Blaze...albeit in patches. I thought last 10 of the second period we were flowing and was hopeful we'd start period 3 with a bang but was disappointed we came out a bit flat. I do think down to 4 D really hurt us in this one, when you have a 38 year old D logging 28 minutes TOI ([ think highest Blaze D TOI was 20) your going to really struggle at the back end. Mosey whose normally consistent made 2 pretty bad mistakes to give them the fourth and I think that killed the game, I think without fatigue he isn't making those mistakes.

I actually think we played better than in the previous few games I've watched recently where we seem to be in a bit of a slump and struggling with teams clogging the centre of the ice, without Donnaghy and Fournier creating exits from the D that is a problem coach Russell needs to find away around. All this being said I think it was a tight game but can't argue about Blaze getting the W. They are so much better to watch this season without the Danny Stewart trap hockey and credit to Moore for getting them playing attractive and effective hockey and recruiting a new roster to execute this.
