An effective, successful powerplay is one key aspect in very tight games like this. Weak execution could mean the difference between losing, and either leveling the score or staying in the mix.

Story of the last few seasons...our Team's powerplay is poor when it really counts.

Got a few really hard battles left against the so-called Big Three in the next few weeks. Let's see if there is any improvement.

Bottom line for me is we don’t score enough goals. It was a concern I had in August and I haven’t changed my mind. I thought our recruitment last summer was a bit odd again.

Just look at our games in February so far. I’ll ignore Fife.

Belfast - 1 goal scored
Guildford - 1 goal scored after 59 minutes of play.
Sheffield - 2 goals.
The home game v Guildford two weeks ago we only scored 2 goals before a couple of empty netters at the end.
Nottingham - 1 goal.

We can talk until we’re blue in the face about other aspects of our game but we just don’t score enough goals, particularly against the better sides. And nobody should be surprised, this isn’t a well balanced roster.

I just don't know why we don't crowd the net more, thats where all our goals come from...

Zero shit housery, zero winding up the Nettie, I just don't understand it.

Another weekend of watching Devils lose, no doubt I'll get the same experience going to watch the rugby tomorrow.

Thought our D and net minder were tidy. Our forwards were garbage. Other than barrow who looked like they left it all out there? The decision to sit caponi in a game like that says everything you need to know.
Sanford is too lightweight in big games. He makes zero impact. Same as kontos and perlini. Martin isn't a top line centre anymore and in these big games it really shows.

Truly awful.
Sanford. Please leave.
Perlini has been stealing a wage for too long.
Estes is just a shadow of himself.
Thommo needs to shoulder much of this. There is Devils way of playing hockey. A Devils identity. Where is it. Where has it been for weeks now. It’s disappeared along with any poweplay hockey know how. I assume Thommo drew a picture of a net during the powerplay timeout just to help his players.

Credit to Belfast, they won every board battle, cleared their zone well, finished hits and looked menacing - a bit like Devils hockey used to.

Caponi. Poor fella. At least he would try,

Sanford for me was all at sea , nowhere near match fit ,why start him in a top of table clash, truly awful. No energy 4th line , sheffield looked better than belfast and we still lost , just wish some players had the energy and commitment as barrow , he was everywhere. Some of those hits outrageous especially the first one , I assume he was man of match , well thats the lge done, just a respectable position to finish the season 4th at best , 3rd a bonus, at the moment ,the playoffs could be a doubt and nit even make it ..
