A great open ice hit but the fact that we’re reminiscing about it 30 yrs later points to what a rarity that sort of open ice hit actually is!

Anyone remember the open ice hit that Moscow Dynamo’s Darius Kasparautism laid on John Lawless back in 1990?
Now that hit was like like stepping in front of a runaway truck!

Kaspararaitis was an absolute monster, and played every game at 100mph.
Apparently, even his private life was lived in the fast lane, spending a large proportion of his NHL pay on booze, clothes, fast cars and women.
The rest he just wasted!!

iirc, Simms was calling for ex- communication followed by the death penalty then to be hung, drawn and quartered and his entrails hung from a lamp post outside the Utilita.

95% of fans want to see someone drop the gloves with Ulett tomorrow at centre ice within the first couple of shifts. Who cares if it’s the sensible thing to do. How boring would Ice hockey be if everyone did the sensible thing all of the time. The arena has been noticeably quieter this season, especially last few games ( barring block 13, they are loud most games ) someone making Ulett Answer the bell would blow the roof off

I really want to see it but don't want Brandt getting injured again. Would like to see McWilliams or Gourley go with him though!

The standard of officiating is beyond amateur. If the league wants to continue progressing and improving then steps need to be taken to radically improve what we’ve got. Whether it’s the continual farce on faceoffs or calls like the Brandt one. Half of them weren’t even good enough for the NIHL so Christ knows how they’ve ended up in a league that’s aiming to be among the best in Europe .
