Weird game that 1st period to me was a non entity, and I did think we were going to see a lot more physicality but it was pretty tame. Glad of the 2 points, the highlight of the night was undoubtedly watching a young man named Bayley Harewood, this lad is capable of being a very very good player in this league, he came so close to scoring one heck of a goal, it was like a flashback watching Doug McEwen. If this lad can now keep his feet on the ground listen to what he is told, he can be one hell of a player and it’s such a blast watching a local lad playing so very very well. Keep it up Bayley your playing really well buddy.

To be fair the penalty on jennion was very harsh dont think it was anyway, but take it as we will have same decisions against us at some point. Didn't see nothing wrong with the 2nd goal, coach embarrassing himself when he looks back at it . Officials good throughout . Welcome 2 points against an arena team great start to the lge campaign, now we gotta back it up with a win v glasgow tomoz.

Haven't seen the final penalty back, but Jenion brings it on himself with so many stupid plays away from the puck. Locke is a hard D-man but we showed him up when pressuring him tonight. You run the risk if you pair him with Jenion.

Loved the long walk of shame for Critchlow, and hoped he had a few zingers thrown his way. All part of the pantomime and fully expect DOPS to look the other way.

A lot of teams won't get joy against the Storm this season, their roster may bit a little short of competing for silverware but for my money I think they have the best NM tandem that will visit the Vindico. DeRidder is same level as Robson (when Robson is on a good day) and Greenfield. Probably between Devils and Storm for best NMs - albeit Stoever I think pips little Alex Weninger.

Emmerdahl didn't look out of place and when he gets a few more games under his belt he could prove a useful pick up to provide competition for places...but it's one game so let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Harewood showed up his more seasoned line mates tonight, he's getting better and better with more game time, and may need to be put on a line with some more attacking/free flowing linemates. Thought Mr Sacratini had a good game as well - the place will erupt when he has his first fight, won't it.

Still waiting on Caron, Yaremko and Mieho to hit the heights expected. But they did put themselves about a bit. Martin had a strange game for me with a few missed passes and touches - but that's being ultra critical of his usual exceptionally high standard. Likewise felt like Bubba didn't want to finish his checks.

Or...as is very likely...I'm seeing things wrong

Good win grinded out tonight. Storm were never going to be a walkover.

As others have eluded, DeRidder was (and is) an outstanding netminder - best I have seen in a long time in the UK, in my opinion - Incredible agility.

Again, as others here have already said, Harewood was outstanding - plays with so much creativity and such a joy to watch when in his flow. And shout out to Jonas in his first game here - not an easy game to start with but slotted in seamlessly and looked very composed and calm. Good win - well done lads!

Just seen interviews, critchlow wants the lge to look at embellishment regarding jennions penalty, so I'm assuming he's having a dig at barrow i and saying its the same players all the time, he wants to look at his own players first ,seen a few of his went down to easy looking for penalty, sour grapes Mr crutchlow, get on with it.

Disappointed with highlights again, the talking point incident regarding jennions penalty so fans can make their judgment on the play, also crutchlow incident when having a meltdown on the bench and thrown out , these to me are main highlights 2 mins to go . most fans would want to see those incidents, not just goals.

Mr Ivory Tower and his Glass House....

If the league are going to clamp down on embellishment maybe they should try clamping down on abuse of officials as well. Jenion chirping every call all night, and can see that the culture is set at the top. Not a good look for a Keefe wannabe.

I'm sure Mr Critchlow never drew any PIMS did he. Appears that the Storm organisation still have a Barrow sized chip on their shoulder about him leaving the drizzle of the North for the overcast summers of South Wales.

Spot on , brilliant post , yes they've always targeted barrow, and been giving welsh extra attention as well in games so far . If they can't take it dont dish it .

I want to be kind and say this is a team that battled hard with injuries but it’s still more of the same for me. Poor exits, no puck retention, no clear cut opportunities.
Still waiting to see what our new big body’s are supposed to be bringing.
A win is a win though.

We clearly have players playing injured as well. Both Brandt and Barrow, whilst busy, were nowhere near as physical which makes me think they have injuries.

It’s never easy losing a player that you might want to keep, especially to another elite team in your league, it’s one thing to cut a player, and another to feel a traitorous move. We had it with Tyler Michel, Jon Pelle, to name a few, but as said previous you move on. The worse thing you can do is to leave Devils and join Steelers, that a firing squad manoeuvre.

Also there were some good hits last night by both teams, why can’t these be shown on the highlights package, our coverage is very good but some times lacking in the physical aspect.

Exactly my point , its not just goals, its the hits, welsh took the best hit of night behind goal blk 5, wouldve love to see that again, rough stuff, controversial plays jennion penalty2 mins to go, ? tantrums, coach, ? Not just last nights game , its been others.

jesus christ.. drew deriddler is on steriods, we have 5.4xG and only got 2 (one was an empty netter ofc) but we shouldve been way up there.
I also feel like MacDonald was try too hard to get assists but you can tell that's just not his thing..
Either way it was a better look to previous weekends I would say, those powerplays were very very close but didn't quite work out because of bloody drew deriddler, with other goalies i feel as if we could've capitalized on both though.

I also believe olischefski's wraparound basically crossed the line fully before being kicked back out:

I thought that at the time I'm dead level with that. No laptop on our bench ?

We are singing from the same hymn sheet. There is so much more that can go in a highlights reel. We just get ... here are the goals then the game ended. If you add the controversial hits, the tantrums and the fights as well, you get interest from those outside of the sport including media.
