The other thing I can't understand was there's 4 officials on the ice ...it was blantly obvious that bout of cross checking the penny should've dropped when shudra took an extra crosscheck when bush was defenceless on the floor...but it took at least a 3 minute review. To decide the outcome..
In fairness to the refs on this specific point, they’d already called a major before the review - ref 11 signalled the 5 min cross checking penalty when he went over to the penalty box before the review, and then followed this with the sign to say they’d review it. A major penalty had to have been called on the ice already to allow them to use the review system, and I suppose it’s a sign of the times that if they have a chance to review they're going to use it, even if it takes a while.

I don’t think cross checking incidents like that have any place in the game, and in an era where enforcers have gone, and players have concerns about getting called for 5 mins fighting plus a 2 + 10 for an instigator penalty and sitting in the box for 17 minutes themselves or even 2 + game plus a ban), as well as knowing so much more now about how damaging repeated blows to the head from fighting are to short and long-term health, I can understand why many players are not going to do the enforcing. So I think DOPS then has to effectively take on the role of the enforcer in another way and issue punishments that act as deterrents and fit the crime. And whether they are Steelers players, Giants, or Devils, that means bans to fit the crime.

Thanks for that, just hate reviews , it takes the momentum out of the game, and it gives teams as in sheffield game basically a 3 min. timeout to get their team ready to kill that 5 min. major and in this case we didnt score from it.. reviews should be goal decisions only imo..

I agree that a review is a pain in the backside together with the other points like momentum and the time to reorganise etc but if it means getting the calls correct I’m all for them
I do wish the process could be quicker but again, if you have them take the time to get it right.
It isn’t the review or the call that is the problem here though, it’s the crazy DOPS decision

Thinking 11am for DOPS tweets?

Ulett for fighting/boarding as a repeat offender? Panthers NM for spearing? Anything from the Devils v Steelers game? Will Belfast's Cooper get 4 games because he doesn't play in Orange...

Find out shortly ....

My guess....nothing at all, across the board

Ullet would've been done and dusted by now. Panthers nettie had a fine , nowt from devils game unless refs get fined for only giving 2 min for check to head, so it leaves Cooper major from last night . Prob be 1 game . Back to fines...is it the player has to pay or club ,?

Nothing from DOPS today or since the Manchester v Nottingham game. Storm haven't played since then so wouldn't have to announce until today.

And yes, @Ocko I get it - players would need to be in hospital to get any ban.
