Glasgow Clan are playing a fixture out of the Hyrdo Arena this season, which has a 12,000 seat capacity. It’s part of a double header fixture with Belfast, Dundee and Fife. The ticket prices are outrageous (45 quid) but this looks like to me a scoping exercise to see the appetite for a move there.

Also, the Storm’s move to AO seems to have got off to a good start. A quick check online shows very limited amount of tickets left, Storm have said they will likely break the EIHL attendance record this weekend, for a friendly. Superb work by them.

The EIHL arms race has begun!

Wouldn't it be £45 for a 3-game package ?
So £15 a game.
Doesn't seem too bad to me.

Although I think Dundee and Fife fans will be a bit cheesed off at having to travel to Glasgow for their game.

That is what I thought but my Scottish friends say it's per game which ........ is a bold pricing strategy.

I’ve read the press release several times now and I still don’t understand what it is and who it actually involves.
Belfast’s logo was on one of the pictures but then not listed in the fixtures?

That price would be a bit prohibitive for a lot of regular fans never mind newbies.
Different sport but tickets for away fans in the Prem are capped at £30, I believe that's for at least the next 3 years.
Our sport is growing but clubs need to be alert and not get carried away with ticket prices.

this is pure greed , way over priced , your not going to grow the sport with stupid pricing like this. the person in charge should have his head examined. this does just as much harm to the sport as it does trying to promote it , self defeating.

Quick question on this (and it may be daft, but oh well), as I'm not sure but does the Hydro have an ice pad? And if not, could the increased cost (if it is per game) be to cover the temporary set up etc of an ice pad? Understand it's not a cheap price by any means given the number of potential seats to be sold but would that be a reasonable justification?

From watching the Clan video on this, the Hydro doesn't have an ice pad - it will be laid down in the 2 days prior to the games. The video also seems to suggests the idea is to sell this event to a new audience (many who are regular attenders of other events at the Hydro and on the mailing list), and they state it's one of the cheapest tickets in terms of the costs of other events at the Hydro. Checking other 'sporting' type events there, bare knuckle fighting tickets in November start at £72.60, Gladiators live tickets starts at £48.65. So it is actually one of the cheaper events there despite needing to put down an ice pad.

I can understand that regular Clan attenders that are non-season ticket holders will feel miffed as the top tier tickets at Braehead last season cost £31 (I assume the price will have gone up a little from that for this season) so their Hogmanay game tickets will cost up to £14 more than if the game was played at Braehead, though with many looking for things to do together for their Hogmanay fun I think lots will pay the premium.

I'm not sure how the fans of Dundee or Fife, or the visiting Belfast fans for the first game, will feel about the travelling for 'home' games and for the higher prices than normal for away fans. I think Glasgow will benefit more.

I don't know if it's been mentioned that these games between the Scottish sides over the festive period (including the two Scottish battles in the Hydro as well as the Fife-Glasgow game on 23.12.26) will count towards a new mini-championship with the winner of that taking a new trophy. And in addition, the winner of the Glasgow-Dundee match will lift another new trophy - the 'Scotia Quaich'.

The plan seems to be that this will hopefully be an annual event and tournament.

Good luck to them, I have no idea how it'll go but I really hope it works out for all involved.
