I know they check everyones season ticket at the door but i'm just saying i wouldn't of thought they would stand on the door of a bar and they would stop fans going into the bar if they didn't have a st when it's a completely free night..
Why not?
I know in the past when we ran CDSL events we would have people stood on the door. If they were a member they would be allowed in free (and we would have to check a list), if they weren't they would have to pay.

Most bars have doorstaff that check ID's to make sure anyone under age isn't allowed in. I assume this night they will be checking everyone has their season ticket holders card on them before allowing them in.
Okay okay sorry you must be right then? Just saying because at events such as Frannys fright night they didn't have anyone on the door or check for season tickets and it was in the same bar..Also at ladies night and the awards night they didn't check to see if i had a season ticket when i said i was a st holder..They didn't even ask for the tickets at the awards night so i was just saying maybe they won't..

With the money back for season tickets, and season ticket only events, they are really pushing the whole season ticket thing.

Makes sense, as it is a revenue stream which they can rely on.

I agree with a season ticket holders event BUT what is going to happen when ;) we win the playoffs !!!!

All the people who paid their money to go and watch the guys in Nottingham (who are not ST holders) cant congratulate them on the Monday night ??

I'm not ST and wouldnt be going anyway as i live 2 - 2 1/2 hrs away but think this would be unfair on non ST holders......unless of course plans are in place for an impromptu party at the rink on Sunday night.............................just in case

I think it's great that they're making an effort for us season ticket holders but completely understand what you're saying about non st's..The people who i watch the matches with aren't st holders so i'm not sure who i'll even end up going with..Thought it would be nice for everybody to say farewell to the players though..

Well we havn't exactly had anything else throughout the year.

Some people paid up front by 31 May last year only for the date for the earlybird deal to be extended not once but twice. Maybe it shouldn't be the farewell do but its nice for the season ticket holders contribution to be acknowledged.

Whilst it may seem harsh, its clear that the club want to increase its number of season ticket holders.
To do that they have to do something that is a real benefit to its members, and a real loss to those who aren't.

Giving non-season ticket holders the chance to pay to go in for something small like £2 is then a complete waste of time.

Seems like a great idea to me.

However, I'm unsure if I'll be able to. If I can't, I don't mind letting someone else have my season ticket holders card to get in.

I'll start the bidding at £100.

I was just going to say they could stand by the door like they did at Franny's fright night! There was someone on the door when we arrived so dunno what happened when you arrived !

We have had nothing all season exclusively for st holders so it is a nice gesture, however, I do think it should be an open invitation on his occasion

As a ST holder, I agree that there's been nothing "special" for us this year.
After the (hungover) drive from Nottingham on the Monday, the question is will I be arsed to drive for another hour down to Cardiff then an hour back in the evening ?

If the trophy's there along with the winning team.... HELL YEAH !

Make it worth my while guys

(QUOTE)I think it's good it's about time we had a little treat we don't get many. The answer is of course is to become a ST holder next season. (QUOTE)

Actually i was a season ticket holder previously but due to financial difficulties i was unable to purchase a ST for this season. And i have just lost my job so i am unable to buy 1 for next season.

I would just really like to go to this event thats all - but nevermind

Absolutley crazy.

After all the good initatives introduced this year by the club, this is a real PR faux pas.

Yes, it's a good idea to hold an event to recognise season ticket holder's, but maybe this should be a mid-season event. There are many people who are not season ticket holders whether this is because of financial reasons, work commitments etc. All this event does is serve to alienate them.

Oh, and just a stab in the dark, but will the music will be provided by S&M .............AGAIN!

Ah fair enough..well i'm not sure maybe there will be someone there but i didn't get asked at Frannys Fright Night..Guess we will have to wait and see

What did we have as ST holders this year? I thought they were doing a ST only bar (cabin) thing?

We had a few discounts, E.G Dominos, focus etc and money off Ladies night (5er i think)?

Was there anything else?

Nothing that I can remember, nothing that related to me anyway, can't afford a new car ! can't even remember anything else, its a bit of a grey area, seems to be a long list of benefits but nothing I can take advantage of !

Aren't you going to Sundays game?
If so - you can say goodbye to them then.

Or if you are going to the playoffs and the team makes it - they are often seen mingling around in the evening after their last game.

I would be very disappointed if the club changed their minds last minute and decided that this would be open to everyone.

I’ve been a season ticket holder for a few years, and agree that there should have been something to say thank you, however I don’t think the Farewell Night is it. There are many loyal fans who don’t, for whatever reason, have a season ticket but would like to, and deserve the chance to, say “thank you and see you soon” to the team. And it’ll really be a case of shooting themselves in the foot if we can bring the trophy back as well.

Historically this isn’t a specific ST night, it’s like the Awards Night, the Christmas Parties, Ladies Night, etc – open to ST and non-ST alike (just a different prices). So not only is this year’s Farewell Night restricted to ST holders, it’s simply hijacking an already established event, which to me doesn’t feel special at all.

Ideally this should be open to all (it’s not too late do still do this) and there should be a special ST night during the season (too late this year, could be started next season), something a bit different. I have not idea what (but please no more cinema trips, that just felt so awkward!).

I’ll be there on 6th April; it’ll be interesting to see the turnout.

I really enjoyed the cinema trip, it was something completely different, there are loads of things through out the year where fans can sit in a bar and hang out with the players but the cinema night was something different. It was great to watch a classic hockey film with an audience entirely made up of those who know / play hockey, I'd much prefer some more nights like this, where something different is offered rather than hang out in another bar talking to players, which you can do after each game anyway. Ditto for Rhythm's Hockey 101 nights last year, I enjoyed them far more than the usual night as it was something a bit different.

Exactly. There are lots of major events that are open to everyone. Not one major event has been open to Season Ticket holders only.
We were originally going to get our own bar area where we would come mingle with the players after games. That never happened, not that I blame the club.

How long has the Farewell to the Players night been an established event? I honest can't remember.

Making another mid-season event just for ST holders isn't going to work really.

IMO the pre-season "Meet The Players" and post season "Farewell To The Players" should both be Season Ticket Holder only events.

Why draw the line there? Perhaps the games should be for ST holders only too?

The reason people are upset by this is the fact that Meet the Players and Farewell would be the two most important social events of the season, I know I'd happily trade Xmas/Awards for them (not counting Ladies Night as it rules out 50% of the fans anyway :p )

I completely agree there should be events for ST holders as a recognition but not at the risk of alienating people who for one reason or another cant/wont buy one. When we win the playoff trophy this year I wont be amused that I cant congratulate the team and celebrate with my fellow fans...

Absolutely spot on. A lot was offered to season ticket holders at the start but the continual extending of the early bird offer, the lack of proper discounts on things, no season ticket bar etc hasn't done much to make us happy. I got my season ticket before the first deadline and haven't managed to use any discounts so there needs to be something that is really special to keep me as a season ticket holder next year.

I imagine that its the season ticket money coming in over the off-season that keeps the clubs finances up to date while there is no gate money, so they need to be rewarded. If the tent was selling out every week and the only way to guarantee a decent seat every game was to have a season ticket then the extras wouldn't matter so much. Until that happens we need encouragement to part with our hard-earned cash, particularly with the recession.

The events when you can say goodbye to the players and the meet the players at the start of the season need to be prestigious events, they need to be exclusive for season ticket holders. Like someone said anyone can say goodbye to the players on Sunday in the rink bar. The actual event should be the ownerships way of letting season ticket holders know how valuable they are to the club.
