I didn't say he was making a divide i said it was the last thing the club would as he referred to the club alienating a section of the fans and i also commended him for running the trips

Look you asked the question i gave my opinion on the post the way i had read it. Don't get all airy just because its not what you want to hear.

Not getting all airy as you put it. Just think this is getting ridiculous. Yes season ticket holders are important to the club but so are other people. I would bet that many none season ticket holders have supported the devils in more ways than season ticket holders this season.

From a business point of veiw the Devils want more ST holders and they are showing that you become a VIP if you are, BUT it is too late in the season to cause upset to many faithful fans by this and I don't think it has been thought through properly, Having been an avid away fan back in the day I must say that it is not good, those that have supported the team this season on the road need to be shown the same if not more appreciation from the team, but I don't think this was the teams decision.
There is no sentiment in business - as the saying goes

Rights, this has passed through silly to idiocy now. Time to draw a line under it. Everyone has stated their position, and looks like no-one is moving.

Before this starts getting personal, lets agree to disagree. Any major issues, take them up with the club directly. Otherwise, please leave this alone.

But Gaz, surely Season Ticket holders have the benefit of a discount or some free games for their money as opposed to the people who are not season ticket holders who have to pay full price for every game? They also have a discounted price on things like the dinner dance and I'm sure there are other benefits.

There are many people who are non S/T holders because of finance, family commitments, working hours etc who spend a lot of money following the team, not just at home, but away as well. The cost of some of these people's away travel is probably considerably more than many S/T spend following the club who only go to home games.

Yes, have many benefits and exclusive events for season ticket holders, but 'farewell to the players' should not be one of them. That event is about the players and not S/T holders (though I notice the title of the event has now been changed on the official website as someone from the office has seen this thread).

The club have done a great job this season in implementing many new ideas, but this is not one of them. Someone posted on here that there are approx 450 S/T holders out of an approx average crowd of 1,350. So why alienate 2/3 of your core fan base with the late announcement that this popular event will be for S/T holders only?

They should make this event free to S/T holders and charge £2 to non S/T which could go towards the Devils community foundation.

I do sympathise with your stance on this CI, and i can see why some people are upset. I to have spent a shed load of money this season due to the fact i havent got a season ticket and i have been to a few away games, but for me i realise why the season ticket holders get more than i do, essentially their money paid for ITC cards, Flights, first month rent accomodation etc. Their money is a hell of a lot more valuble than mine is.

Thats why i'm personally not bothered by this, its not the Devils saying screw you even if you spend more money, its saying your money was/is invaluable to us and this is how we want to repay you. They obviously value all of us as customers and thats why we have had events all throughout the year for everybody.

A more general point here but say what you want about Bob but when it came to events etc the fans got pretty much Carte Blanche (is that the right term? it sounds right to me i think  ) on the players and the social interaction with them, it was for better or for worse a 'fans' club. If we moaned about things they were more than likely changed, I have no doubt that if he were still in charge that this event would have been changed to a free for all by now.

For me its just one event out of the many which has been exclusive, and i personally can live with that. I think others should live with that, but i can see why they are upset.

As for Bob The Drvier, i ask the question but wasnt the supporters club going to be seperate from the club? and the club was just advertising it? if so i cant see the point in running seperate travel, this club has been divded enough over the years and over one event yet i'll say it i do think its a little silly.

Now before everyone jumps on me i know exactly the sort of work Bob has done this year as i did it myself a few years back, and absoloute Credit to him, but to leave that behind over this? I would just say have a think, at the end of the day anything like this happening its the boys on the ice that suffer. A unified fan base will do them the world of good. So given the awesome work you have done this season Bob to be doing that in an official capacity you will reach hundreds more people to join in your fun that you and your motley crew have had this season. So i would urge you reconsider.

I think you will find it WAS the teams decision - it was the idea of G and the guys, NOT the management team. I really do not understand the real "NEED" to say goodbye to the players, I just don't get it personally....I could say some more, but to be honest I got sooooo bored of this thread on about page 3...I am just looking forward to watching what should be a great game tonight...

Off topic, but yes, the plan is/was to run the supporters club seperately from the club, but with the backing of the club, if that makes sense :)

Chris.

I would be very interested to find out if this was Gerad and the players decison, I certainly find that unlikley particularly from the players themselves perspective. I believe it's more likley spiel from whoever writes the items on the webpage. However, I stand to be corrected if that is the case (and would be disappointed).

As per your post, I could say a lot more myself about a number of non season ticket holders who have done a fair bit for this club financially but this is probably not the place to expand on it at this present time.

I dont get the obsession with saying 'goodbye' to players either.

Some of our fans seem to get way to attached to Devils' players. To me they are sportsman in a game I love and nothing more. I've watched too many seasons to get attached to players, the only way I like to say goodbye is watching them in their final game. I honestly dont think it bothers the players either, I hate to break it to some of you that you're not the players mate or bestest freind forever and they will probably forget most of you the second the event it over.

I can understand young kids getting attached and having their favourite player but for adults to be like this? :?

yikes, i can see more toys flying in the air soon i think as there may yet be more to this melodrama , and happenchance the possibility of mebbe 1 season ticket not being re-newed next year................errrm

as for me, yep i had a block 5, no two block 5 season tickets in the wnir for many a moon. i even bought similar off plan for this new rink before it was even built. seemed ok too when i sat in it on preview night, in an empty rink. come matchnight, i lasted 1 period and never returned due to pish poor visibility. i now stand adjacent to the bar-end goal judge on the plexi as i can at least see more of the game. perhaps sorting that one without tv screens might increase the valuable revenue generated by the season ticket holders?

now i am unable to buy myself a season ticket for my porthole on the plexi, else i would have by now. however i do pay as much to stand as others do to sit so consequently i am never ever gonna win a pizza, or gash cinema tickets either. AND when i want to do some knitting in between periods, all the sitters come down and swarm around me which effectively nullifies that. christ knows what would happen if i brought a thermos and sandwiches................ however this clearly makes me a secondary/unwashed supporter.

now i won't bore you with my previous sponsorships or 100 club memberships or any of that stuff oh no no no no. but what i would ask is if perhaps some of the more valuable supporters would allow me a little peak through their window as the team hobnob with their better mates. hahaha - oh pleeease mister.

christ on a bike, there has always been an i'm a better/longer supporter than you attitude in this club. i am mollified to see it lives on in its own smug little way with this finny moderator/poster, oh yeah and i wasn't going anyway either way as it happens. i just happen to hate all this i should be better catered for than you shyte because i am worth it. pah minority sports always attracts em - hence their minority status i suspect!!!!!

You can buy "Standing" Season tickets for next season and they will put a little plaque on your "window space" for you...

Dont want to get too involved with this topic, as its a delicate one to some, and thats fair comment. But when we lift the Play-Off cup, it will be a very bad situation to only allow certain people to say goodbye to the Play-Off Champions, that would be a very bad position for anyone to be in. Maybe just maybe a rethink should be thought about, just my take on it guys.

p.s. out of curiosity, can we have a show of hands of exactly how many poeple ACTUALLY HAVE complained directly to the club?

I have actually complained to the club. No repsonse but watch this space.

What I fail to understand is why don't the Season Ticket holders want us there.

I want you there bubbles! I think it should be for other fans..
I also heard that 7.30 to 8.30 its for season ticket holders and 8.30 onwards everyone is now welcome..?
