Referring to Drakeford as Drakeford is not a personal attack on any poster here, unless in the unlikely event that our esteemed First Minister is posting under a pseudonym on the Inferno! And it's absolutely bizarre that you think calling someone a socialist is personal abuse - check the definition, it’s not an abusive term! Especially if that said person posts that he’s a member of the Labour Party! So not pot kettling here mate!
"It’s healthy to disagree but there’s been a worrying trend this past few years within UK politics, particularly from the left wing movement - the abuse of people who have an opposing view. We've seen it particularly with Brexit and the Covid pandemic. It’s unnecessary."

This is from your post from a few days ago. You're right, it is unnecessary. But as stated above you and others who post similar views to yours call him Drakeford on every occasion. I would class that as abuse of someone who has an opposing view. You're calling out something you do yourself on a regular basis.

I did find this thread interesting at the start, it was debating and criticising government policy and science. But it's been taken over by posts such as the above, and any post that contains personal insults such as Drakeford shows a lack of original thought and so I ignore.

Very sorry to hear Chris about how Covid has affected you and your family. Take care.

Strayed the line?! I intimated in one post that personal comments towards other posters were beginning to creep into this thread, which is not the way it should be on here, in my opinion. I'm sure we've all done it over the years (including me) but as a rule, I try not to attack the poster but argue the opinion of the post if I don’t agree with it. You called me out for calling someone a socialist (I actually said they were pushing their socialist agenda), when they are a member of the Labour Party. That’s not abusive, my friend, so let’s just clear that up! And if anyone gets really offended by me and others calling the FM Drakeford, they must have very thin skin (nor is it meant as an attack or abuse of any poster on here, just reflects my feelings towards the FM). I’ve read much worse abuse and name calling directed towards the UK PM and other politicians on this forum by many posters (including me, and I’m sure we've all called certain politicians from every political persuasion far worse over the years) - and I have no problem with that. I’m not defending any politician of any ilk, particularly considering the immoral practices we've seen from some in Westminster and elsewhere. I think most of them are self serving, as I’ve stated already in this thread. Comments like that are not what I was referring to - I really couldn’t care less what others personally think of Boris Johnson, Matt Hancock, Mark Drakeford et al (that was just for you Devil94) - but the last few pages have seen some more personal comments, which has then led to a degree of upset on here, which I’m sure nobody wants. I do try to stand by the mantra, “if you don’t agree, attack the post, not the poster”. Perhaps I don’t always succeed, but I do try.

Where did I say it was abusive? Shall we clear it up that I never said that? All I was saying was you called out left wing voters for attacking right wing voters and I said from my experience and yourself calling drakeford, Drakeford it was pot kettle. Now if you were being abusive and I said pot kettle then fair enough ill hold my hands up.

I've got nothing personal here against anyone. Covid has destroyed families, look at Chris post, it's devastating to read that and you can surely understand why some people are so hesitant to what covid can do. Personally I agree with you and we should open the ice rink as compared to pubs etc, there's no more risk. I will happily buy you a pint the first game to show there's no hard feelings.

I might take you up on that, if the bar is open of course!

You saw the flaw in my brilliant plan haha! I hope though that if the rink is open and to fans then so will be the bar. But the offer goes to everyone, I love debates where you can disagree on everything but still have a pint and laugh

There are one or two on here who I’d rather not have a pint with, but you don’t fall into that category - not yet anyway! Let’s hope we get the chance to see some hockey in August.

You know, i've sat here and read your posts for a while now, saw you claim to be drunk when you've made some offhand remark that hasn't gone down very well, and whatever else.

I don't know what James' view will be here, but if you're going to start bringing this nonsense about it not being a major illnesss, or "deadly" as you put it, then i'd be quite happy to not see you post on here again to be honest.

I've lost two colleagues to this virus, I had covid and still have some effects 6 months later, my wife was off work for 16 weeks, we had the ambulance out to the house 4 times in the space of a week. The only reason she didn't go into hospital was because there were no hospital beds available in Medway, or the surrounding areas, it was terrifying to watch someone you love be so ill and you literally can't do anything other than watch them suffer and hope things improve.

One of my mums brothers has died, another has prostate cancer and has seen their treatment delayed time and time again because the hospitals are overwhelmed. He's now on end of life care. Whilst covid might not be directly to blame, it is also definitely to blame.

You might have been luckily enough not to have caught it, or seen people suffer through it, but maybe try and think of the people on here who have done.

So feel free to take a think before you post again, or just don't post again, I really don't mind at this point.
I've thought about your post all night. I'm deeply sorry if I've offended you or anyone else with some of my nonsensical comments on this thread. I don't often think before I say things which has landed me in hot water before. I feel like I've embarrassed myself with some of the sh*t I've posted. Drunk or not when I've been posting, I feel ashamed.

I've seen the affects Covid (especially long covid) has had on 1 of my family members and 2 of my dearest friends.

Im at a loss to explain why I say the stupidest of things. I'm truly sorry.

Having adhered to the rules throughout and not socialised outside the rules, I’m referring to the groups of people I see when walking through Cardiff and in and around the bay where I live. The vast majority are youngsters which is hardly surprising.
Can you be certain they are breaking the rules though?
Rules for meeting outside are (I think) up to 30 people from more than 30 different households. Yes they should be socially distanced, but only from people outside their own household. Don't forget a lot of young people in Cardiff are students who live with several people in a household.
I've only driven through Cardiff a couple of times since the pandemic started. Most recently a month ago when I was surprised at how many people were wearing masks when outside. A week later I drove through the Rhondda and almost everyone was wearing a mask despite being outside.
I haven't been in a pub/bar since last summer so I can only base it on seeing people outside and in shops, but for me the overwhelming number of people I see are sticking to the rules.

Yeh, remember when the left-wing movement killed an MP.

Abuse of people with a different view comes from both sides of the political argument. Personally, I would say that people on the right are far happier to throw abuse out (Remoaner, Drakeford) but complain the loudest when the name calling is aimed towards them. Or point out they are being selfish. Or point out they are lying.

I didn't say it was exclusive to the left Finny…..nor will I continue bickering with you here. If you have a personal beef with me (I don’t think I’m a selfish liar, if those comments are directed at me), you can always take it to private message.

Official Government figures:-
https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/det...ve_received_vaccinations_by_report_date_daily

2,140 in hospital with Covid. At its peak it was 40,000 and in the verge of being overwhelmed.

We’re currently at just over 5% of the 40,000 figure !!! It’s hardly overwhelmed is it!
There are reports though that in some areas of England and Scotland the health service is starting to be overwhelmed. Not purely because of Covid, but the precautions that staff need to take because of Covid makes it more difficult when A&E reaches peak capacity.

There are also worrying figures coming out of England over the past couple of days. Hospitalisations which had initially stayed nearly flat for the initial cases surge are now increasing at 38% per week. Yes they are increasing from a very low base, but that could change very quickly.
The UK government seem to be planning for cases to hit 200,000 once they relax the rules. That would put the peak of cases in early to mid August and the peak of hospitlisations a couple of weeks after that.
If the rate of increase stays at 38% we're looking at surpassing the previous high of 4000 daily admission by the end of August.

Previous wave's were ended by lockdowns. This time there is no lockdown (only Freedom Day), but we do have the vaccine.

It could go either way. The vaccine effect could kick in within the next couple of weeks and cases drop by themselves. Or the cases continue to rise and we end up with a worse situation than ever before.

And that's the dilemma the Welsh government faces next week. The data for Wales is encouraging. Hospital admissions are staying low BUT those who are being admitted are increasingly ending up in ICU. I think the figure has increased from 2 to 8 in a week.

So if they relax restrictions and we follow on England's path they will be criticised for being reckless and ignoring the warnings.
If they decide to wait and see what happens they'll be criticised for not opening back up when deaths are at their lowest.

At the risk of changing the topic to what is going on INSIDE Ice Arena Wales - does anyone know what the situation is?
There was a discussion earlier in this thread about whether the ice had been laid or not. Does anyone know which it is?
