Bringing in a forward depends on how long Kontos is out, doesn't it. I haven't heard or seen anything but I'm sure its been discussed on here.
If hes out for a while then maybe someone will come in but lets be realistic - unless we had a 'flexible' arrangement with someone to maybe come in if they didn't make an AHL team (rosters are being finalised now I think?) we aren't going to find someone to be a WOW signing at this stage of the year. Far more likely to be someone in the Almqvist (free agent) or Schoonbaert (now retired) mold - a body for the 3rd or 4th line - more like cover for Duggan.
Not that its the only source (players from this league) but of recent EIHL forwards a quick EP search shows the following as still without a club:
- Ferguson - if he is fit or can get fit, he'd be a no-brainer
- Lacroix - noope
- Ben Freeman (Giants) - 30, Half a season and only 4 points, can see why he wasn't retained. OK numbers at ECHL level though.
- Crasen Twarynski (Giants) - 28, 21 points from 28 games last season - surprised he hasn't signed anywhere - presumably looking at an AHL deal given his CV
-
- Jake Elmer (Stars) - dropped off but was always noticeable against us only a couple seasons ago and is only 27
- Adam Robbins (Blaze) - 26, not signed anywhere 37 (12-25) in 42 for Blaze (their #4 for points)
- Brendon Harms (Stars) - 31, semi retired like Ferguson was, 40 points but only 17 games last season
- Steve Harper (Steelers) - 31, loves bouncing around. 45 points for the Orange last season - can't see it myself.
- Cole Ully (Flames) - not for me. You have to carry Ully
Of some of the others I kept an eye on when having a brief look at Canadians in Germany, David Morley and Blaine Byron haven't found homes yet
