Devils GM Todd Kelman has revealed that the new Cardiff Devils coach haa been found according to a statement put out this afternoon on the Cardiff Devils Twitter page:

"We always said we wanted a coach who's committed to the Devils long-term. We've found our guy." - Todd Kelman.

Accompanying the statement was a picture of the empty home bench at Ice Arena Wales.

We can only hope a name is announced soon.

Really surprised by the timing of this considering the season been canned. Guessing its a recently retired player who's happy to have some time off before moving into coaching.

So we we’ve signed Peacock Beauty, he’s an ex KYHU league guy from Idaho, specialist skill is taking a team of few people onto no ice and turning them into a team who’ll hold their own against NHL teams..........

Seriously now good luck to whoever he is, certainly be interesting times

Is it a coach in a current position & under contract till the end of season. I wouldn’t have thought so unless he’s been released early due to Covid. If they’ve signed an ex player I’d be disappointed after announcing so many applications in their statement. Hopefully it’s an experience coach with a decent record in an equivalent league or higher and doesn’t bolt for the door on arrival or do a Pope and take the pi88.........l do hope it’s not Pope

Yeah I agree. I didn’t expect to hear an announcement about a new coach until next year. I know there’s talk of the league possibly starting in Feb but no chance

If the best option is available and keen, why not announce it asap. Strike while the irons hot. Cant afford to be neutral on a moving train. Think of the liverpool, thiago scenario.

I was thinking more from a cost saving point of view. With the season cancelled I'm surprised the club have took on another overhead with a coach. However credit to the owners if they did, be a huge boost for recruitment next year.
