The last game of the 25-26 season and the Devils are at the NIA to face the Panthers. It's still incredibly tight at the 'not quite top' and this could be the decider for 2nd/3rd

After Saturday's games, Devils cannot now finish below Sheffield and 3rd is now our lowest possible finishing position.

Win in Nottingham today in either regulation or O/T then we finish second.

Lose in O/T we will still finish second as we'll keep Panthers in third on the basis of more regulation wins.

Lose in regulation then Nottingham will finish 2nd and we'll finish 3rd (ahead of Sheffield on the basis of more regulation wins).

If we beat Nottingham in regulation and Sheffield beat Glasgow by any means, Sheffield will finish 3rd and Nottingham 4th.

If we beat Nottingham in O/T and Sheffield beat Glasgow then Sheffield will finish 3rd and Nottingham 4th.

If we beat Nottingham in regulation and Sheffield lose to Glasgow in O/T, Nottingham will finish third ahead of Sheffield based on Panthers winning the series between them and Sheffield by 8 points to 7 points.

So if Sheffield lose in any manner in Glasgow, they will finish 4th.

Elsewhere:

If Glasgow win in regulation and Coventry lose in regulation today, Glasgow will finish 7th and Coventry 8th due to more regulation wins. If either of their games go to overtime, no matter the subsequent result it will mean Glasgow will finish 8th and Coventry 7th.

Guildford host Manchester. If Guildford win in regulation or O/T - Guildford finish 5th. If Manchester win in regulation they will finish 5th, if Manchester win in O/T - Guildford will finish 5th.

Possible QF match-ups:

Belfast will face either Glasgow or Coventry.

Cardiff could face Coventry, Glasgow, Manchester or Guildford.

Nottingham could face Coventry, Glasgow, Manchester or Guildford.

Sheffield could face Manchester or Guildford.

Guildford could face Cardiff, Nottingham or Sheffield.

Manchester could face Cardiff, Nottingham or Sheffield.

Coventry could face Cardiff, Nottingham or Belfast.

Glasgow could face Belfast, Cardiff or Nottingham.

So going into the final day of the league season, excluding Dundee and Fife, only Belfast are fixed in position as champions - every other position 2-8, and every play-off QF match-up will be determined this afternoon/evening.

Thanks Big Fan that’s exactly what I wanted to say, but I don’t have 6 months to try to work it out, plus my explaining would have surely tied anyones head up in pure confusion. By the time I would have it partly sussed we would have been well into season 2026/27, so thank you.

We may well be missing Fournier tonight feel a 1 match ban coming on. Spearing would normaly lead to a ban.
Can never be sure with DOPS but as a rule of thumb, unless there's a significant injury to the opponent if the offence is punished with a major during the game it doesn't lead to a ban whereas if it is missed or only assessed a minor then a ban typically follows. Fournier dresses this afternoon.

Some sloppy passes but what a period of hockey by us, if it were anyone but big Kev in net, we'd be 3 nil up. Great PK too, never really let Panthers set up.

Panthers had a tough night last night, I don’t understand why we ain’t taking the body, unless finishing 3rd doesn’t matter and the fear of injuries are top priority. But finishing 2nd and taking two Arena scalps would be a ideal place going into the Play Offs
