places to stay in belfast

Right near the "O" there is a new hotel called the Ramada Encore, its in what we call Cathedral Quarter (belfast has 5 quarters apparently) they are one of the giants sponsors so the away teams always stay there if thats your cup of tea.

If you want to be more central then you cant go wrong with the Premier Inn on Alfred street its a stone throw from the city hall and main shopping/everything else area there is another Premier Inn on Waring Street which is in the above mentioned cathedral quarter.

The walk from city centre to the "O" should take about 5-10 mins make sure to leave enough time to stop by at McHughes bar on the city side of the river lagan, they have a traditional irish session music every saturday afternoon and you'll usually find some friendly giants fans there for the craic. Aim to be at the arena for about 1730 or so and stop by Rockies North American Sports Bar where you will find that north american sport has thrown up all over the walls, but its a hockey friendly pub (the guy that runs it used to play for the Nottingham Panthers)

Rockies bar is amazing. I was there in January of this year and all the walls are covered in hockey tops from all over the world. Jim ( I think that is his name) who runs it is a super bloke and will always find time to have a chat about hockey. Jurys hotel is another option for somwhere to stay.

yeah thats the guy Jim Graves.

id totally forgotten about Jurys, which is right on the edge of the Shopping centre of town and at the end of the "Golden Mile" loads of pubs and restaraunts and night clubs and such things leads from there right up to the university quarter. If your walking to the O you should add maybe an extra 2 mins onto your journey time.

A taxi from either of the city centre hotels to the O should cost you around £5 in the afternoon.
