Rumours & Offseason Nonsense 2026/27

I can't see Riley pricing himself out if we sign Doty, as that simply wouldn't make sense to me.
Perhaps Riley has asked for a top-6 wage for top-6 minutes.

Doty maybe asking for a 3rd line role, with a uni degree.

All speculation of course, but that would make Riley more expensive (as the degree's are sponsored I would imagine).

I suspect Brandt brings in quite a few quid in Jerseys/50/50 and photos on ice for the club to pay extra for his services, depends on the player, he might want to try another country or team. If he does go elsewhere for money, i do not blame him one bit, sport a cruel and can be short

Given the look of our roster, I’m not sure where our goals are coming from. Though I do admit our D is outstanding and in my opinion the best we’ve had in the new era

There is a lot of talent in our forwards now. If we add Kontos +1 whether that is Brandt or a new player we will score bucket loads. Don't forget we have a fit Yaremko, who showed us in the playoffs what he can do. It's like having another new player

Exactly the same was said numerous times during off season last year and we ended up scoring 195 goals and only 12 goals behind Belfast, without even looking at the forwards you would like to think that Welsh on the PP would go some way to closing that gap

Do we know where this Doty rumour has come from? Just chat on here?

2 spots left on the roster graphic.
Presuming the last two are import forwards , that would leave us with:
2 NMs
7 D (1 spare)
13 F (1 spare)
Brit Pack: 6/5 (so 1 spare)

That sounds about right for the start of the season, with adding another body in November time. Although I think there might be a surprise coming...

I've no source (HP!), just a feeling in my waters (which I will get checked out, don't worry)

Thommo said in his interview that we had to many spares last season thats the same number has last season. I think

nobdoy asked for my opinion but here it is anyway

was i expecting some bigger names and numbers with the ST increase? of course, they basically sold the increase to us by saying that we'd be competitive with the big ones. however, personally, i don't think we have any need to worry about point scoring.

just by using last years league numbers, we need to make up 177 points so far compared to the players we are losing.

*IF* kontos is back, that means we are missing 124 points.

i think a fair prediction basing on the levels of leagues they've played in previously, that:

mieho should give us around 35 points. this is a fair prediction i think, and puts him on the same skill level as perlini. but im personally excepting more from him.
caron the cannon should give us around 40-45ish? lets go with 42, the middle of my prediction.

that leaves 47 points for harewood, sacratini and the one missing roster spot to cover.

all of the above is including yaremko only giving us 6 points in league games as well as harewood giving us 2. pretty sure we can expect yaremko to go up to about 20-25 this season? lets call it 22.

if yarekmo lives up to those predictions, we need to make up 31 points across harewood, sacratini, and the missing roster spot.

of course this is just a numbers game for us fans. coaches and staff would have done their research and they all know what it takes to win and what we need. i think we should just trust them.

That's where we need the brandt we had last season scoring for fun, may even get more points than last season., good post from yourself.

So with one player still to be announced, I’m guessing our lineups will START like this:

MacDonald - Martin - Olischefski
Yaremko - Kontos - Barrow
Caron - Miwho - ( Brandt)
Harewood/Duggan/Davies/Sacratini.

I think we’ll start with familiarity but I expect them to change a lot over the season.

Every year I hope for someone who can challenge the benchmark set by Joey but either he's just too good or we aren't fishing in that pond. Shinkurak was the closest we came but that didn't work out for us or him. I do worry where the goals will come from. I like having an imposing first line that scares the wotsits out of the others but that doesn't seem to be our way or working. Whilst Sanford was a goal machine, as someone else wrote, (as far as we know) he isn't being tapped up by Sheffield, Belfast or Nottingham, in recent times, we don't see to be chasing that kind of player.

Will we be short on goals here?
