Just looked on Eliteprospects.com and its got that Sly has been released by Coventry Blaze but it is unknown where he is going: http://eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=13249
Fans of MK of the EPL seem to think he is going to them, well according to there forum rumour thread. Mind you they also say that Adam Calder could be joining them on a 2 way contract! :roll:

Apparently Calder very nearly did sign in the EPL and it does make sense in some ways. EPL teams only have 4 imports instead of 10 but the big teams still have crowds of around 1000 so they can afford to pay their imports pretty well. And due to the lighter training schedule, it could give the chance to start a career outside hockey.
I wouldn't be surprised Sly signed in MK. If he likes the easy life, he could easily rack up the points, become a hero and still get paid pretty well for not having to try that hard.

Dropping a league would be a bit of a career downgrade wouldn't it? I suppose if MK Lightening are prepared to pay the salary a player wants then fair enough (although if the teams are only allowed 4 imports they would have to budget more carefully than the EIHL). The standard and the challenge of the Elite League is surely more exciting and I guess if Sly lowered his salary demands, he would be likely to receive interest from those clubs.

If true they have signed a top player.. Very similar to Voth in the way he plays, and is also a good scrapper who was voted by his fellow players in the CHL, as the toughest guy in the CHL, the best power forward in the league, and the best hitter in the league as well.. Him and Voth in the same team would be very entertaining to watch..

The problem is that Miller, who I see as a dedicated centre is very quick, but by his own admission Colt King who discribes himself as a winger states that his weakness is speed (Hockeysfuture.com) 2005.
It seems the player doesnt match the position, the rumours seem pretty solid though, so we will see.

Would be a fantastic signing if the rumours are true and this one came off. However at the moment I doubt this is a done deal.
Would give us added toughness, protection for the likes of Smitty and Max as well as having the ability to put up decent points.
Miller gives toughness too and although being more than capable of supporting Smitty and Max on the 1st line, I have a hunch that we will see him on the 3rd line with G and Towe.
The great thing is that these combinations dont have to be set in stone and it maybe that the 1st and 3rd lines can be finalised when the players get together and see which combinations work best in practice. Always good to have 3rd line players who are capable of playing on the other lines due to injuries etc.
