Ocko honest question do you really think having a bigger budget we can get closer to the big 3, and do you think if we raise our budget those guys won’t raise theirs. It’s like a catch 22 to me, it would probably be a different scenario if there was a wage cap, although Arena teams would find a way around that.

Honest question, when we're looking at 4 players sat in the stands not playing, do you genuinely believe our roster costs are so much lower than the "big 3"? I dont for a minute and I know I'm not alone in starting to think like this. My trust has began to erode for a while now.

Have they really got rid of the guiness? If they have its down to the price , can't sell it , think it was 6.80 pint .
They've replaced it with Caffreys Stout. All my mates are going wild for Caffrey's Stout. They are always on about going in to town and having a few pints of Caffreys stout. "Split the C" they all say. They can barely go a day without having one. It puts Guinness to shame.... said no one, ever!

I think there are players being paid big 3 salaries.

Don't rush to try it at the rink! The best bit was the bar staff didn't even know they'd changed the Guinness to Caffreys. They were clueless when everyone was asking for a Caffreys. Bring back the frickin Guinness!!

I bet it doesn’t. They’ll sell out every game regardless, which will mean the pricing will be a big success. Interested to know how the logo has bitten them on the backside? After the initial expected meltdown merchandise and jersey sales have been at their highest level in the clubs history. The older generation might not like that, but it’s also not about them.

The issue is the rink capacity not the decision to raise prices. I’ve never been under the illusion that the club is run as a business and not a community project - when Todd came in and bought the Devils I don’t think anyone was under any illusion that his management would be to build the business as big as possible. Income has to be maximised to stay competing. I’m fine with this. If I couldn’t afford EIHL hockey I’d watch something else. I’d actually be willing to pay even more to actually get a ticket the next seasons prices if I’m honest and have offered well over face value to people over the past few years. The demand is way too high relative to the supply.

Whether the league is sustainable or not (as mentioned by a few people) is not a decision to make instead of raising prices to be competitive next season. We’ve had EIHL hockey for the past 23 seasons and having watched from the very early days in the Heinekan era I don’t think it’s ever been in a more sustainable or stronger position.
Highest in club history? Can you prove that? I seen tonight these so called fans they want to attract, 2 had to be helped out because they were drunk and shouting like idiots, look what happened to the WRU, prices been pushed and pushed up to the point you go to rugby for a piss up rather than watch the game itself, now results are bad, the true fans are voting are outpriced and welsh rugby in a bad way. The devils will have a season were it does not go to plan and we lose more than we win, will these fans still come, no chance. Hockey fans wont afford it or choose to not attend. Then we go back to crowds alot smaller, this is short term plan, not long term

Same lifeblood who drip about a 0.73 win % not being good enough (despite being a huge over achievement considering the budget), but don’t want to pay any extra for it to be better.

Club can’t win. Dont compete, moaned at. Raise prices to be compete, moaned at.
Not the fans fault, we get told we are going for championships by the club, we dont expect it at first. We are not going to compete, other clubs will follow this madness and only people benefit from this is the owners and players, fans won`t!

The one thing I would say is I don't agree with the big jump in prices but don't agree with the comparison to cardiff football. They're effectively third division and have had a bad few years and falling crowds, they have to make it attractive to fans. The Devils sell out every week, again not agreeing with but I can see why they've pushed it.
only 7 clubs in the prem we are cheaper than, we are more expensive that ever club in the championship

I've seen lots of comments saying about a 20% increase. I wish it was. As a senior in a silver block my increase is just under 26%. I no longer buy any food or drink. I stopped buying 50/50 years ago. I only bought SOHB when it's a full team but that's stopped now. I have nothing left to cut back on. I will renew on 30 March but I expect a much better on ice product than we're getting this year. A similar increase this time next year and I'm out after 30+ years.

Looks like we will be downsizing as a family, which to be fair we were probably going to do anyway, but this seals it. We have STs because we enjoy the company around us and if we get ad-hoc tickets we simply won't get our current seats. The other benefits don't make any real difference to us - we go to games not get the webcast, the ST jersey doesn't look to be exclusive this year, the benefits in the shop dried up....

Devils have been better this year entertainment wise, true. But we also have to be realistic that Devils is a luxury and if we can't afford it, or that money would be better spent elsewhere, then so be it. I understand that costs go up, I get it, doesn't mean we suddenly have another couple hundred quid to chuck at the Devils. I feel for the people who have been STHs since the beginning, are now pensioners and don't have the flexibility to work a few extra hours or cut back on other bits.

In 2026 its far easier to be a home fan that it would have been ages ago - all the goals, hits, fights etc are either in highlights or social media clips; if you want to follow live there's FlashScore or buying the Webcast. I can watch at home, drink a more reasonably priced pint, not pay to park, swear as I see fit, and don't have to get to the Bay in traffic. They even do SOHB online now. Its not the old days when you had to be there in person to witness things.

The downside would not be seeing our friends, but we can arrange stuff for that, and yes not seeing it live in person will be different...but change happens.
You'll have to keep coming. How will I get down the stairs otherwise?

"Much better on ice product"? I think you're going to be disappointed. I would imagine that any extra cash gleaned from the ST price hike will go straight towards the so called 400 new seating plan and associated conveyancing costs. It certainly won't be on high end players to seriously compete with the Arena teams.

Was the same last season , seniors are no longer needed I'm afraid, club all for families with kids and spend money as seniors can't afford it on pensions, I can just about afford another next season just to be involved with 40th anniversary but have to work 2 days to cover it , at 71 it will be my last season after 40 years service with the Devils, just hope next season is gonna be a blast with all the extra money going into the playing staff.
