So with Belfast putting prices up, the whole point of trying to get closer to the arena teams have failed? only people who will benefit from this is owners/club and the players?

I think the fact that we have 3 players who used to play for the University of Denver, the same team that one of the owners sons used to play for tells you all you need to know.
With only ONE of those players coming to us directly from Denver (Caponi), and the others coming from inside the league (Barrow) and a league with much higher caliber (Olichefski DEL) I’d say you’re pretty wide of the mark there, but hey, don’t let the facts get in the way of a good story…

From the outside it very much seems that recruitment is a task shared between TK, Francis and the coach - with additional contacts from the owners.

Taking a complete guess I'd suggest that Francis is the main scout, with TK doing the numbers, and the coach having a couple of contacts and ideas....owners chipping in with some of the more marquee signings (MacWilliam, Mikkelson etc)

We saw some guys coming in who had experience in Germany when PR was coach (MacDonald, Olichefski)

Thommo seemed to only get Estes from his previous leagues/clubs, I'd expect Thommo to stay and have a couple of 'his' signings lined up for next season (reminder to self to start the Thelin rumour early)

I'd guess that most of the guys who have either come direct from NA or who have done a couple seasons in Europe before coming to the UK (Helgesen, Oligny) were via Francis and his contacts.

Obviously there are players who are retained from previous coaches, but they are retained presumably with agreement of the coach. And there are players who get referred or recommended by current or former Devils - look at Caponi, Yaremko.

If my memory serves me right pretty sure thommo was hoping to bring in his top scorer from his previous club but fell through , can't think of his name but his stats were pretty good, prob would've put some of our misfiring forwards to shame of late . Let's hope thommo is back next season with that forward .

That was Thelin, who Devils86 mentioned in his post. Thelin is a 6'4" RW, but will be 34 at the start of next season and isn't having quite such a stellar season this year, with 23 points (12+11) from 39 games.

Drifting a bit off the thread topic, of I'm afraid.

Yes, Joakim Thelin - whether there was any truth in it, who knows....if there was it was probably by accident as I tried to get that rumour going, not sure if there were any other sources to be honest! But it did make sense as a potential signing.

Hes having an OK season in Odense so lets see if he's linked (by someone other than me!) over the summer

PT’s recruitment at Sheffield is probably best summed up as patchy.
Who can forget the appalling Rupert brothers!
Was that the season he was replaced by Tom Barasso on the bench? Who was entertaining.....

tbf the Rupert brothers on paper looked a sure thing - AHL pedigree but in the EIHL...... nothing was going on

Della Rovere, Rupert Brothers, Josh Pitt among many others. Thommo hasn’t had the best history of recruitment but has also brought in the likes of Levi Nelson Guillaume Desbiens and John Armstrong. Seems very hit or miss (mainly miss though I would say)

Have to say, calling Josh Pitt a miss is a bold move bud.

He was almost a point per game that season he was in the league.

Thommo as you said brought in Nelson, Desbiens, and Armstrong.

Not to mention Roy, Mosienko, Matheson…

Still no response to all these people from the club. What gets me is that Todd can put a video out saying the season tickets are going up and it's like it or lump it as fans get no chance to ask questions. If it carries on like this year after year with no improvement in team, we may be looking at another season with no fans.
A response? Of course not. They’ve made the decision, put out a video explaining it, if you don’t like it, don’t but a season ticket. Being a fan doesn’t entitle you to a Q&A for everything you don’t like.
