There will be many Season Ticket holders giving serious contemplation to whether or not they renew their STs for next season. Many will be long time ST holders and the price hike will for some may be too much - which is very sad, but at the end of the day, this is TK's business - how he chooses to run it is his own business and nobody elses. Nobody is forcing people to be ST holders. To that end we all have a choice.
Does TK really care who his ST holders are? Absolutely not. He knows he has a long list of people willing to replace existing ST holders. TK's only interested is getting the money/budget that he feels will enable him to compete with teams that have significantly larger arenas and hence much larger budgets. Personally, I believe he is misguided in that aspiration, as for reasons which will become clear, we simply can't compete with Arena teams for income
The Cardiff Devils did in fairly recent times have had successful season after successful season, but we also had a truly exceptional coach (Andrew Lord). The times since Lordo left have been largely bereft of the successes we had when Lordo was in charge of the team. Yes there have been one or two accomplishments, but these have been infrequent flashes in the pan, where the Devils have successfully punched well above their weight.
Put simply the Vindico is too small for the Devils to compete effectively with Sheffield, Nottingham and Belfast. Hence the calibre of skillset of player the Devil's can attract has a ceiling. Put bluntly the Devils ceiling is the floor that the Panthers, Giants and Steelers stand on. Until such time as the Devils can be hosted in a venue of 7,500+ then the prospect of repetitive championships will remain a past glory - Sad but true
