I am surprised there is not more discussion about the mezzanine of 2-400 extra seats over the bench side of the arena which Todd mentioned in the video. That exact topic of extra seats seems like it has been discussed here countless times in the decade the arena has been open, and he is saying they are looking to ideally have it sorted before next season starts!

how is a 20% increase justifiable lol Inflation is 3.5% lol Higher increase for disabled people. Food and drink will also increase, so will parking. Then to say it affordable for families, come on!
And like cost of living increasing etc we have to make cuts elsewhere, so in this case a £3.5 (ish) increase per game means 1 less pint a game or reduced 50/50 etc

Because this thread is about the ST price hike and if you think the mezzanine with the extra seats will make the ST’s any cheaper you’re mistaken I’m afraid!

Thats it in a nutshell for me. I had to offset the last hike by stopping SOHB and rink food. I'll offset this one by stopping 50/50.

You'd assume they've done some modelling but I'd expect this hike to generate a fraction of potential additional revenue that the headline figure would suggest.

And that’s the point. Many people will just stop buying a drink or food or 50/50 etc, so in those cases the net gain is zero!

Appreciate the video of explanation. Doesn't make a 20% increase on our Silver ST's any less painful, though!
If this season we're "6th most expensive", I wonder where will these price increases rank us next season?

I may be wrong but I don’t think ticket prices have gone up much this last couple of years? Perhaps £1-2 over a period of a few years. If so, arguably prices haven’t gone up as they should. Reality is everything else is going up in price so why would these tickets not? I think the last few years I’ve been surprised that they haven’t gone up significantly. So whilst not ideal, I think we’d still be here now just the Devils should have put their prices up more in years to buy and this jump wouldn’t seem so bad. I’m not sure what other teams are charging, but again assume we haven’t done anything other teams aren’t charging. Whilst not ideal, it’s just the world we’re in now. On STH privileges - name another sport that gives you anything other than your seat and maybe some discount in the club store. There’s a lot of entitlement there, your benefit is you save money overall and get the same seat before anythin else the club offers. I

I will add to my comment above, its a pint of beer less a week outside the rink, im not suggesting stopping/ reducing spend in the rink as that's robbing peter to pay paul

I used to buy a programme, SOHB etc. every week but haven't done so in years.
Used to buy a few pints too but that stopped after COVID when public transport went pear shaped so I now have to drive... and pay £5 to park instead.
So overall it's a net loss to the club of about £25 a game, which they're clawing back slowly on my ST instead ;-)

I can absorb the increase (for now...as per savings mentioned above) but totally understand why others are up in arms about it.

People dont have an issue with price increase but 20% is taking advantage saying pay it or lose your seat because we have someone else lined up already. Concession went up more than non Concession. They can't pick up extra hours in work.
To say it affordable and compared it to other family days out is just beyond me!
Short term yes people will pay, long term you will push hardcore supporters away.

Will the club care, dont be silly, it feels more of a business more than a club.
Will they admit they got it wrong, no chance look at the logo, biggest mistake in new owners term personally.

You’ve nailed it right there, it’s a business, not a club.

6th highest season ticket, and consistently performing higher than 6th in the league and Europe - would anyone at all be happy with finishing 6th and winning absolutely nothing?

Something has to give in order to keep it up.

i am all for price increase but 20% is a huge huge step up and to say it still good value for a family is crazy!

Personally the club have added a huge amount of pressure to themselves, one bad season and the first thing people will say is well you wanted the extra 20% to be top 4 club, what's going on. I wonder if sponsorship prices went up 20%

Can’t comment on family value etc, BUT, for years now the match night ticket has been cheaper than the teams below us (Manchester, Coventry, Fife, Dundee) and we’ve been performing much higher than those teams.

Gotta keep it up somehow unless expectations change.

As long as the entertainment is there I don't mind not winning anything. I'd much rather we spend within our means and finish mid-table, than try to keep up with the arena teams, risking long-term stability.

Some of our trophyless seasons in the BBT and WNIR have been the best entertainment, and some of those teams I have more fondness for than our recent league winning teams.

I go to the hockey to be entertained. Winning is a bonus, but a secondary one.

There's a very real risk that such an increase so soon could price people out.

I don't think the league needs 15 imports (and 17 on the books) to sustain the crowds either. The casual fan will not recognise whether the quality is better or worse than it has been. Entertainment / characters are the key.

Exactly - of course it’s a business. That’s what professional sport is. If peole want a ‘club’ go to Cardiff Fire or something like that. It’s the business which keeps the Cardiff Devils in existence at the end of the day. People do need to take a step back and realise this.

It’s a tough one because whenever we lose a game people are always quick to express they are not happy because we can’t keep up with the arena teams in terms of recruitment, now the ticket prices have gone up and we have more of a chance of keeping up with the arena teams, guess what, people are not happy

I’m glad you’re happy to say you just want to be entertained. Unfortunately on this forum, most losses are followed by an inferno meltdown so that implies to me most want to win. So, there’s a price to winning or a price for entertainment only and a lot less wins. What are people choosing?

And yet, when we do win, others say the game was boring. You can't have it all ways.

It's much better to bring the league costs down to a sustainable level, with realistic wage caps, than pricing fans out of it. This arms race is only going to widen a gap and create divisions within the league. I'd much rather us have a team to support in 10 years time than try to keep up.
