Am I missing something about Belfast. They have over cooked on imports by two and have signed 16. And are still under baked on Brits. They are flexing the financial muscles but four line hockey still looks a bit of with the fairies. Clearly Thornton and Keefe have a plan but I can’t see it at the moment.

So Belfast sign Darik Angeli. He was on my wish list at the start of the off season, and because of the Kansas connection I thought there was a chance, we must have talked to him. But I reckon he has the potential to be the signing of the summer in the league.
Really?

He looks a good signing, but nothing special.
Three brief spells in the AHL but did nothing during them.

Last season he had a good ECHL season but previous years weren’t anything special. Can’t see him scoring more the mid-20 goals this season.

Keefe has a history of hiring and firing imports in the hope enough work out. I wonder if they’ll be able fudge the roster deadline so they can use the CHL as a test for these imports without affecting the roster changes rules.

It looks to me like they’ve been let down and panicked. They’ve only got enough brits to play 3 line hockey and have signed 5 specialist centres plus Garside.

Very odd indeed.

We'll wait and see, but I think he looks a great signing. Top point scorer by far last year for Kansas, and was 2nd not far behind Brodie Reid the year before. But he's also a big powerful guy that is physical too. If your power forward scores mid 20 goals then that's a good return. That's about right for Blair Riley and Joey Haddad and they were alright.

He's obviously got some drawbacks or he would have spent more time in the A. No idea what they could be but reagrdless I think he's a very good acquisition for them unfortunately.

I’ve a feeling Belfast have brought guys in on “team friendly” deals, but with major bonuses if they win silverware, which is what is allowing them to have an inflated roster.

I also think they’re using the CHL as a testing ground I feel. But we shall see!

Belfast keep 2 kids on 2 ways.
It's been discussed on here before, but there's only 3 full time Brits on their roster in Whistle (who won't touch the ice for half the games), Garside and Long.
Any guesses how that's gonna work out? The rumour site said they were looking at looking at the younger Neislon brother but that fell through. They could yank Boxill out of retirement again I guess, or maybe they have a young Brit playing abroad lined up, but it sure is strange that the defending champions don't have one of the best Brit packs secured?

Boxill won’t come back. He’s well set over in Boston.

The only reason he played before was because he was here for Christmas, without his wife & kids, and the Giants were short on bodies.

Conway is a Brit as well isn’t he?

How is that going to work out? do the 2 ways count? They shouldn't otherwise you could have 6 2ways that never play and a complete roster of imports
I get completely baffled by these rosters sometimes with the loopholes and rule/regulations and turn a blind eye to things.

Yes I think that’s right!
Yep, Lake did not do the required number of years of junior development here so isn't a Brit under EIHL rules but can play for GB thanks to his passport..... Conway played junior hockey here (I think for Nottingham but I could be wrong) so is a Brit to the EIHL....

So assuming Garside plays as a forward they currently have 4 full time lines for the CHL. But they have 16 imports signed, so 2 to sit out/ be released for the league campaign.
