What’s the issue with what they’re doing?
They're gonna put in a velodrome and other facilities but no real expansion of parking facilities. So unless we all get on the site and push for more parking it's gonna be parking chaos when the cyclists, swimmers & ice hockey fans all try to come & go at the same time.

It’s all part of their strategy to 'Drive the motorists off the road' pardon the pun!

There’ll no doubt be a lovely new cycle route and a covered cycle stand for up to 6 bicycles!
Most velodrome bikes aren't even road legal so even those riders will likely be driving in not to mention spectators, families, staff etc.

The whole thing needs a lot more parking.

Track bikes are either left in paid storage at the velodrome or brought in cars, like we do in Newport , you would have to be mad to ride on the road, no brakes, gears , bottle holders etc

They also appear to building over CIWW car park so how do you get your canoe there
I have already commented on the lack of parking and,it would appear - for ice users and swimmers - public transport.
The councillors need hammering on this

There's going to be a Park and Ride system further up the river. Park up and ride you're canoe down the river to CIWW. Obvious really!!!!

And another set of artist impressions and plans. This council has some serious ambitious ideas, every year it comes up with something else. It won’t just be parking that’ll be the issue, actually getting there in any form of motorised vehicle or electric. You’d think being an Eco Council they’d want to include EV charging points into the project, let’s face it those who want to use this cycling facility are the ones who’d own an Electric Vehicle. You need to have a certain level of intelligence to travel to a facility, pay to ride a bike as opposed to simply staying in your local community and ride, for free. I didn’t see any carrots hanging from the cycle way plans. No they’ve really not thought of this, maybe because, and this is a wild guess, this project will be binned, chucked in the massive paper skip at the back of their offices along with all the others............

This is the problem with good time goodway and his cronies. They come up with grandiose and unworkable plans, but they can't even get recycling sorted out in the city. It's not a political thing (RCT is the same party, but is much more effective), it's about the competence off those involved.

The consultation period for the Velodrome is open now until the 13th. Anybody with any reasons why the application should be rejected, now is your chance to voice those directly. The majority of the proposed development is still not available to the public, so a bit disconcerting as to what their planning.
The most obvious concern for Devils Supporters is the transport access, the plans show the current roads approaching the IAW will be paved and pedestrianised, with no parking facility near.
Currently the biggest complaint is it isn’t the promised direct replacement to Maindy (a familiar lie), is not being upgraded to an indoor track, its far bigger than the current track with far higher gradient meaning recreational users won’t be able to use.

Ah yes the let's pedestrianise an area plan when most people arrive there by car. What could possibly go wrong.
