Devils 3-2 Steelers

The Steelers returned from a successful European adventure hoping to carry their good form into the league, however the Devils managed to deny them a late comeback bid to break their 3 game losing streak.

The Devils were gifted an early powerplay opportunity at 1:45 when Steelers new 'Golden Child' Farmer was called for hooking at 1:45. Despite the powerplay not leading to a goal, shortly after the Steelers returned to 5 skaters it was the Devils who took the lead.

The first period ended with the Devils leading 1-0 and despite a feisty encounter, there was never a hint of the game being drawn into the kind of chaos we saw last season between the teams. The second period opened with both teams receiving more penalties, however the biggest incident came at 26:17 when Michel nailed Cruikshank at the boards and received a crosscheck to the face for his efforts. Hicks penalised both players, Michel receiving 2minutes and Cruickshank receiving 2+2.

With Michel back on the ice, it was the Devils who scored first again after a goal mouth scramble saw Verner unable to shift the puck quick enough.

Just under 4minutes later it was the Devils who had scored again when birbraer, doing his best to avoid getting his 200th career EIHL assist managed to find a way past Verner.

The Devils managed to score again at 39:30 but the goal was washed out after hicks and the line judge ruled they had never seen the puck cross the line. The 2nd period finished with the Devils looking to be in control of the game. However the Steelers started a late comeback bid at 51:51 when the Devils began to coast and gifted an opportunity to the Steelers.

With the game entering the final 2minutes, it was again the Steelers who managed to find the back of the net after Devils were penalised for delay of game at 57:09.

Despite pulling Verner in the final minute, the Steelers could not find the equaliser even with the man advantage and the Devils finally ended a run of 3 losses.
