Devils 5-1 Stingrays

A rare Sunday night faceoff at the correct time saw the Devils bounce back from their defeat to the Vipers the previous night to beat the Hull Stingrays in the Cardiff Bay Arena.
To make the evening even better, Thompson was the man in charge of the game and the fans were actually assured a better display of officiating than had been seen recently.
The Devils started the game in control with the Stingrays struggling to even make their way out of their own zone even when presented with a powerplay opportunity at 3:32 when Hartwick was called for hooking.
It was the Devils who opened the scoring though at 5:49 after a turnover in the Stingrays zone by Mark Smith saw his shot hit the pipework only to be collected by Birbraer who buried the puck.
Devils 1-0 Stingrays. Birbraer from Smith at 5:49.
The 1st period finished Devils 1-0 Stingrays with the Devils having most of the control but the Stingrays still looking dangerous when pressing forwards. The second period opened with the Devils scoring first thanks to Matt Towe (Sponsored by yours truly).
Devils 2-0 Stingrays. Towe from Symonds and Michel at 22:43.
The second, and mostly unexciting 2nd period finished with the Devils leading 2-0. The 3rd period opened with Hull on the offensive after seemingly receiving the hairdryer treatment during the 2nd period break and scoring with under 1minute gone...
Devils 2-1 Stingrays. Sanford from Glowa and Kalmikov at 40:50.
Despite the Stingrays seemingly being back in the game, the rest of the period was all Devils with the first goal coming after Burns caught Latulippe with a high stick and the Devils were presented with a powerplay opportunity...
Devils 3-1 Stingrays. Miller from Romfo at 48:16.
Less than 1 minute later it was again the Devils who scored, Birbraer grabbing his 2nd goal of the evening.
Devils 4-1 Stingrays. Birbraer from Richardson at 49:11.
The Devils were presented with another opportunity shortly after when Lee Esders was penalised for hooking at 50:49. The Devils powerplay - in full force from the beginning of the game - proved to be good once again.
Devils 5-1 Stingrays. Hill from Latulippe at 51:27.
The 3rd period finished Devils 5-1 Stingrays, Stingrays man of the match was presented to Jeff Glowa and Devils man of the match went to Max Birbraer.
