ENL Devils Vs Wightlink Preview
Cardiff ENL Devils head to the Isle of Wight on Saturday to take on tough guy Jeremy Cornish and his Raiders.
Wightlink Raiders dropped down from the EPL this season and with their budget and large home crowds they were hotly tipped to be the main title challengers to Invicta at the top of the ENL table. However, life has not been as easy for them as expected and they currently find themselves in 6th place, struggling to keep pace with the top teams of Invicta, Cardiff and Chelmsford. This is the Devils second visit to the tiny island rink and they will be keen to avenge the 5-0 defeat they suffered last time they travelled to the island with a short bench, by repeating the 7-0 spanking they gave Cornish’s team when they visited the bay in November. That game saw two giants battle it out as Cornish and Devils 6’7 monster Gareth Rowlands fought twice, with the Elite League enforcer taking both wins. This weekend Coach Cuddihy should have a full squad available with only Adam Wood missing after picking up a harsh kicking penalty and suspension last week in Streatham.
There are limited spaces on the team coach to the Isle of Wight for this one. The cost is £32 per person which includes travel on the team coach with the players, ferry crossing and match ticket. The coach will be leaving the ice rink at approx 11am. If you are interested in coming and supporting the team then please email: ENL@cardiffdevils.com for more details and to register your interest quickly.
ENL Devils next home game is against Streatham Redskins on 16th January @7pm. The Redskins are much improved having recently picked up a few new players including one Slovak import and have a few guys back from injury. The chance of another 21-3 scoreline in favour of the Devils is highly unlikely and it should be a very entertaining match.
