Panthers 5-0 Devils

31st Dec 2009 | Posted by The-Inferno

The Devils crashed to their 8th straight away loss, this time failing to score even 1 goal. After the disappointment of Sundays game against the Blaze the traveling contingent was significantly smaller for this game, but those that did make the 3 hour, 150mile trip were again left wondering why they bothered...

Despite taking a puck to the face on Sunday, Adams managed to play wearing a full face cage, possibly trying to show our highest paid players how to play, unfortunately one man can't do it all though.

The 1st period was largely uneventful with the Devils possibly shading it, however once again the team took stupid penalties, Hartwick receiving a 10minute misconduct just 9minutes into the 1st period and Voth taking a 2min hooking penalty at 19:51 despite the team having possession.

The 2nd period started with the Panthers grabbing the first of their 5 goals when Lyle was left on the ice by himself, saving 3 shots the 4th was unstoppable and the Panthers took the lead. A text from the game read "Absolutely shocking defence play, they couldn't clear a school yard when the ice cream man is outside"

Panthers 1-0 Devils. Mann from Clarke at 23:03.

A little over 2minutes later the Panthers had doubled their lead after Lyle was again left without any cover from the defence...

Panthers 2-0 Devils. Neilson from Mann and McAslan at ???.

Somehow the Devils managed to hold the scoreline at 2-0 for almost 10 minutes until a stupid error gifted the Panthers another opportunity and the lead was 3 goals.

Panthers 3-0 Devils. Mann from McAslan at 34:16.

Just 26 seconds had passed when the Panthers managed to score again, this time Mann with his hat-trick goal to take the Panthers lead to 4-0.

Panthers 4-0 Devils. Mann from McAslan at 34:42.

The second period managed to finish with the Devils only 4 goals down, but the period was summed up when Smith and Birbraer managed to check each other mid ice. Reports from the game suggested Lyle was one of the few to actually be trying.

The 3rd period started and the Devils almost kept the score at 4-0, but another stupid mistake and a cracking finish from the Panthers saw the 5th goal.

Panthers 5-0 Devils. Levers from Clarke at 59:47.

Somehoe Devils defenceman Mark Richardson ended up with the man of the match award. Reports suggested Lyle would have been a better choice.

Things can only get better... Or can they?
