The Devils picked up 1 point, but crashed to their 3rd defeat in a row against the Newcastle Vipers on Saturday, despite the return of 1st line centre, Mark Smith.
The game opened with the Vipers firmly in control, play took place mostly in the Devils zone in and around Devils netminder Stevie Lyle who once again played well. Both teams had several powerplay opportunities during the first period, but the period finished scoreless.
The second period opened with the Devils conceding several penalties, although the Vipers were unable to capitalise with the extra man. However it was eventually the Vipers who opened the scoring just over half way through the game at 31:45.

Vipers 1-1 Devils. Michel from Hill at 59:04.
The 3rd period ended with the score tied at 1-1 with both teams picking up 1 point and the game heading into overtime. Unfortunately it was the Vipers who capitalised on a Devils penalty to score the winning goal at 63:53 and picking up the extra point.
