Voths ban upheld!!!

They're having a blinking laugh. Uphold the ban and then review the system :x

If they start the season like this then every incident this season should be treated the same.

This league is becoming one big laughing stock.

Obviously the league feels the need to compete for the Strictly Come Dancing viewers on Saturday nights through the winter. This will turn the sport in to a virtually non contact affair.

Still at least the league has had another £2000 from Matt Burge perhaps this will help to make up for the loss of revenue at the 08/09 boycotted play off finals and the boycotted play off jersey auctions

Quote Eamon Convery ' In addition the current processes need to reviewed, which has already commenced, with a view to making recommendations when the clubs meet on 7th October”.

That will be the week before a Sheffield player goes to a disciplinary panel then.

Bob may go on about how he saved The Devils by fightinng the council, he didn t, a dedicated group of volunteers did on his behalf because the Council wouldn t talk to him. Now he is trying to get back at the Devils and fans( because he always believed the fans were against him ) Now that the fans are being treated as loyal customers and not just there to be appeased/ tolerated he has become very bitter and wants to spoil the sport for all of us. I think I am going to start going to the ballet at weekends or watch synchronised swimming.

As for Convery and the rest of the muppets they were right the first time to try and shark Bob and speak with Cardiff City Council to try and get Bob out of Cardiff Devils and Elite League its strange how being the owner of Sheffield has changed that opinion

If Sky are covering the finals, maybe Matt can show the games on a big screen somewhere (gross blue tent?), charge us a few thousand to make his appeal money back and give us a free (signed) t-shirt with our ticket to save us buying playoff jersey's?

How about an elite league badge burning ceremony outside the rink on the night of the next Sky game. Cut all the elite badges off shirts programmes etc and build an early bonfire with Simms as the guy. I will gladly pay for the petrol to get it going

So just to check... Current bans stand but the system is broken and needs review ?
Thats insane I bet of the shoe was on the other foot and Daganeis had been up for the ban (lets say for the kneeing that he likes so much) the system would of been reviewed straight away. But as its not a Stadium team player the league will do nothing....

This is a joke, i think the decision was already made before the appeal that the ban's would stand. I hope Voth doe'snt change his style of play when he comes back and that this ban doe'snt put him of playing here in Britain.

Of course it was, the Eshite league have taken Matts cash under false pretences and should be reported to Trading Standards

The league has to review the disciplinary process for the simple reason they know quite well they have "shafted" Brad and the Devils organisation.

Also they know that they would have to be seen to dish out the same severe suspension to other players who step out of line from other teams ,which they don't want to do because this ban was a "WE HATE BRAD VOTH BAN".......................I think they call it a WITCH HUNT!!!

All of this was started by a compaint allegedly made by an ex devils player who is now coach of a team owned by the ex devils owner. Any respect I had for Matsos went during last season when Matsos brought down a three parts pissed Squeelers team to play in an exhibition game to help with funds for the team run by his employers wife. If anyone was ever a danger to players on the ice it was the squeelers players on that night.

My opinion of Matsos has gone down even more now, he was quite happy to have Brad looking after him when he played for Cardiff but begrudges fellow professionals having the same back up he had during his playing career, and all of this to cover up his roster recruitment shortcomings

What an absolute shambles of a league. Ban Voth and Kozak, then change the rules during the season (a month later) so that the rest of the league big boys can run riot without worrying, while these two guys have suspended bans hanging over them in addition to ridiculously length bans in the first place. The EIHL board morons have made a mockery of British ice hockey. This decision should be fought in the Court of Arbritration for Sport - would be expensive but I can't believe the legal eagles wouldn't tear up this tainted and biased appeal "process" to shreds.

Well Said, couldn't agree more!
I think this verdict is a complete and utter shambles. This so called 'Professional Appeal Board' are a disgrace to themselves and to Ice Hockey in Britain, buy not wanting to admit that they have cocked up big time being way to harsh with this suspension. 'EGG ON FACE' springs to mind!!

KEEP YOUR CHIN UP BRAD! WE ARE ALL BEHIND YOU 100%

Elite league hockey is now a 'joke' in the eyes of the media in this country! Well done Sheffield Steelers and Elite League for this!

I feel utterly disgusted with the disgraceful treatment of the Devils hockey club by the league, it is unjust, unfair, and totally influenced by the Steelers organisation who have taken the image of ice hockey in this country back 15 years in one week. The league should be pulling them into line for their gutter press media campaign that has now heavily damaged the image of the sport in the UK to potential sponsors, TV deals, network coverage, and players, and most importantly the fans who pay hard earned money to enter a hockey rink to watch a game. It is little wonder that ice hockey is seen as a nothing more than a minority sport that gets no more than token exposure through mainstream media channels.

For the hyped up dirty tricks campaign by Sheffield, influencing the league's decision, and then the league itself imposing this grotesquely wrong punishment on Brad Voth and the Devils, I would be tempted to back any suggestion by the club to resign from the Elite league and instead apply to join the EPL. Of course this would never happen and I wouldn't want the Devils to be anything other than professional, but only a few years ago there were clubs joining the rival BNL, leaving Superleague floundering with only 5 teams, and there is a danger of that standoff situation arising again.

Why would the likes of Cardiff, Basingstoke, Hull, Edinburgh, and Manchester want to play in a league where they have all the odds stacked against them because the league itself is clearly under the influence of the bigger clubs in it. Sheffield don't like certain players like Voth, and so they move heaven and earth to make sure that the league punishes these players - and the league does it!!! All this nonsense from Sheffield about the hit that never was, where Voth 'could' have hurt Dagenais if he had connected with the check is utter bolony! If we take that logic, then the league will have to ban players for checks and missed checks against the boards after EVERY GAME! Legal hits and checks as we know them within the rules of the sport would then have to be punished by Elite league, because they 'could' cause injury to a player.
The league has gone totally mad!!

I too believe that the 'Court of Arbitration for Sport' would be the body that would quash this ridiculous ban . The league themselves know the punishment is wrong, simply by them admitting that the disciplinary system needs changing - and will be reviewed on october 7th with all league clubs present.

I hope the Cardiff Devils, Gerad and the players now adopt a seige mentallity(like Leeds United have done), and regroup, solidify as a team, stick two fingers fingers up to the league and play with a driving determination to beat all before them. The Devils have been victimised, and we should use this unjust treatment to skate through brick walls and sweep all the way to the league title, with a big two fingers up to the rest of the league in the process. A **** 'em!, we will show them attitude!

The Sheffield Steelers have made themselves look utterly unprofessional an mickey mouse through this affair, and I for one will not be giving any of my money to the Steelers organisation by boycotting Sheffield Arena/rink.

Surely the league can't change the rules once the season has started! Aren't they answerable to IIHF?

The problem is that we need an independent person with some clout to speak out. Shame we couldn't persuade the programme makers to investigate the league. There is enough dirty dealing / inept management to make a 30 minute programme at least.

Been there, done that, the Broadcasters wouldn't pick it up as it wasn't "mainstream" enough. Believe me, I tried. The first Sky deal (That I actually brokered, so I know what I'm talking about) was buggered because a certain person reckoned he'd get a better product with NASN. (B*llocks did he).

Don't even get me started on the ELITE Ice-hockey TV debacle.

What annoys me is the 'independent' review panel, independent to me would be, not involved in the league at all, not representatives from 3 teams in the same league, how can they possibly have an unbiased opinion its disgusting.
