The following arena capacities have been taken from the Wikipedia page for the Elite Ice Hockey League:
Odysssey Arena - 8,000
Braehead Arena - 3,750
Cardiff Arena - 2,500
Coventry Skydome - 3,600
Dundee Ice Arena - 3,300
Murrayfield Ice Rink - 4,800
Fife Ice Arena - 4,280
The Hull Arena - 3,000
National Ice Centre - 8,000
Sheffield - 13,500
Before you all start; yes, I know this is from Wikipedia and anyone can change it, but I want to address several things in this thread.
Firstly, some of these capacities are spot on and fairly rounded up when others are woefully inaccurate and I want to find out why. My first suspicion is that the hockey fan/s who kindly compiled these rinks on Wikipedia may have made the mistake of stating the maximum capacity for musical events and the like as opposed to the accurate ice hockey capacity.
Another thought is that someone may have tweaked the capacities of the UK's top league, perhaps with the intention or promoting a positive perception of it by foreign ice hockey fans (note that the only arena with a stated capacity of under 3,000 is Cardiff's, probably due to its 'temporary' status).
I accept the action of rounding up, but to round up Cardiff maximum capacity of 2,300 to 2,500 is an exaggeration of 8.7%. If the same exaggeration of capacity was applied to a football stadium of 33,343 seats that would create roughly 3,000 fictional seats and you can't call a 33,500 seater stadium a 36,500 seater one now can you? Rounding up by 0.47% to make 33,500 from 33,343 is completely reasonable.
Again, the capacity for Coventry here sees a ridiculous capacity increase of 33.3%! All I want is all the capacities ice hockey for each of these arenas, but even when I dig online they are hard to find. So people of the Inferno, help me find definitive capacities that are rounded up with an absolute maximum of 1% as they do with rugby and football grounds.
