BATCH suspended

Dops have lost more credibility yet again, false accusations and no video footage to back up what they've said caused the ban??

From what one fan has said it was one punch and Catenacci wasn't unwilling at all.

Yet dops claim batch threw multiple punches to an unwilling player..

This league is never going to be taken seriously when dops are just allowed to embellish and lie to justify a ban lol

And nowt got done to the 2 clan incidents which occurred in Saturdays game..regarding boarding calls.. no good commenting on batch as no footage yet until flames put highlights up..that's if they show the offence by batch

They won't show the footage, apparently all the clubs voted to not show video reviews unless it's a 3 game ban, really poor judgement tbh because it makes fans lose even more trust in this "professional" league

Just seen highlights from game shows it all how batch got a ban is beyond me I can see 1 punch then guildford player ends up on top of batch. Beyond belief honestly..

Dopping gloves in the last 5 minutes of the game is asking for trouble from supplementary review but to call the flames player an unwilling combatant and enacting a suspension and fine seemingly for that aspect is just stupid when he's slashing Batch in the crotch in retaliation to crosschecks. If only there was some sort of video review made public by the dops..

Starting a fight in the last 5 minutes is an automatic suspension. Batch drops a glove and throws a punch so can't really argue with that.
It looks like they are counting the incident by the bench as the same incident because none of those participants suspended yet.

To be honest I will take the ban, although I would agree with the majority that this seemed a harsh one.

Lots of posters have complained about us not stepping in when the rough stuff happens and that is exactly what Batch did. One game isn't a big thing in the great scheme of things but sending a message is... and that's what he did

Is this still the case? I know there was rule but not sure if it is still in existence

How have DOPS called the initial hit by Catenacci as a ‘Legal hit’ - it’s a textbook cross-check to Batch’s upper arm?

Batch takes grievance and cross-checks back twice, then Catenacci has a dirty high slash to the groin and Batch then takes him down.

The lack of transparency by DOPS is mind-blowing and shows a huge regression by the league I.e. not showing the videos - presumably just to save a few quid.

Not posting an explanation video is a complete cop out. The whole DOPS process is completely opaque. Even NIHL are improving their dops this year with the appointment of Cloutman and Thompson, yet the EIHL remains anonymous.
In regards to the Batch incident, the complete failure to acknowledge that something prompted Batch’s reaction speaks volumes about how dops plans to proceed. Infuriating.

Found this online, showing where the EIHL differs from the IIHF rulebook….https://www.eliteleague.co.uk/casebook
Extract from that shows this…..instigator in final five minutes of regulation gets a 2+5 major+20 Game misconduct. Can’t see any mention of an automatic match penalty/suspension but it also says that GMs are reviewed and subject to further suspension by DOPS. It’s the EIHL though, so who knows?! 1726525746580.jpeg

I just love this

Break the final paragraph down

" will be reviewed" - implies some thought but
"will be .......subject to further penalty"

So why review

I don't think DOPS actually reviewed the footage, nothing in the statement from them indicates they did. They just handed out a ban because it was the last 5 minutes. If I were reffing DOPS I would call them for embellishment.

The ban was probably suggested to the lge by the officials on the night. Quick phone call to eihl Monday morning and bingo bongo 1 game ban.
