not much diffrence to that hit by voth on tait..

But a huge difference in the way the game is reffed now, compared with back then. We all used to love an open ice hit and no doubt shouted for players to keep their heads up. But you can’t do that anymore whether we like it or not. That Voth hit would have received a major suspension if it had happened in the game as it is now. I expect the same for Hamonic (even though that hit tonight wasn’t as bad as Voth's for me (which was horrendous to be fair!)).

Crandall has been an underdog player for me.
Joint 2nd in the league for assists so far too.

It doesn’t make it clean at all. Not if there’s contact to the head and if there is, he’s in trouble. The game has changed, you can’t make that hit anymore if there is head contact. Simple as that.

Yeah you’re right. I don’t think he specifically targeted the head, they are very different in stature and I think it’s unfortunate. I do wish we had slightly more referee discretion when it comes to these hits. But I suppose player safety is for the best so I do understand!
