Sigh, I don't think that I need to defend my background to anyone. Suffice to say I've been a fan since 86, and have done a bunch of stuff since then. As I've said numerous times, it's about the blend of players. My view is the first line needs size. I don't see Martin and Crandall writing on the same line . Others may see if differently.
Why do u need size on the first line??
Says who exactly?

Ok say sanford coughler cox was our first line none of them are big none of them are physical...

Your first line should be dominant in possession and create majority of scoring chances..

Martin was amazing at retaining the puck setting up goals and even scoring goals himself..

There is no way on earth he is here to play 3rd line hockey lol.

His name is THE GOAT say no more

I say that because last year we had occasions where no one seemed to get to the net effectively. If you look at the shot and heat maps on games where we struggled we didn't get much going on the slot. A big body means picking up rebounds better and screening the goalie. If Martin centers the first then that means Crandall gets replaced. However they made a point of saying that brittain was a face off specialist, so I assume he'd play there rather than on the wing.

The fact that we're even having this debate shows we have a embarrassment of riches. There is however no need to call into question people's knowledge or anything else.

Don’t get me wrong I love this team and the options we have are great. Its a team I’m really excited about.

Again it’s my opinion and your opinion as we are both entitled to one.

But to me it’s a no brainier

But by the time the season starts his will be 34. And as good as Joey is, it's not going to be the same Joey as we first signed all those years ago.

A lot will depend on what style of player Penny is, but I don't think that suggesting that Martin might play on the '3rd line' is that crazy.

We might go for two main offensive lines and so Martin plays alongside Reid and Crandall.

However, Penny has twice had decent length call ups to the AHL. In 2016-17 he scored 25 goals in an ECHL season whilst on the same team as Crandall. If they played on the same line it wouldn't be that crazy to think that DuPont might try them back together again.

Martin on the '3rd' line might seem crazy, but think of the damage he would do lining up against other teams' 3rd line. A big physical player in Brittain on his left and the speed of Waller on his right. And Waller has shown he has that goalscoring ability if he is given the changes.

Whoever ends up as our 3rd line centre it will be a player with a better pedigree than we've had for a number of seasons. And I'd be surprised if another EIHL team has 3 better centres than that.

I think there won't be a first line just a starting line when you look at the below;-

Martyn Reid Brittan
Cougler Cox Sanford
Penny Crandel Waller
Davies Duggan Brandt

Hoping for a final surprise on the Dman.

I’m really happy with the recruitment. I think the forward lines will be a real force.

Pleased Jardine is back, but can’t comment on the brand new D as haven’t seen any footage.

Glad we’ve got with only 1 import NM as said numerous times last season, 2 import NM is a luxury and reduces our skating imports.

In my view, I would say Crawford is a much younger (possibly an upgrade) Register. I’d have him next to Richie personally, if not Richie with Jardine.

It’s 4 quality lines to be used as and when their required by the strategy needed to beat the opposition on the night. Thats the advantage for the new coach over the last, it’s a team that can only be ruined by factors coming from the club, not the players. Everyone is a known entity that fits as a team, last year was the punt, this year it’s a dead cert. If we aren’t dominating from the second month, I’d be surprised & disappointed, I’m sure Skalde will be more upset now having not been afforded this team in his first f only season. Its a pity we lost both him and Carruth, l hope we don’t need to reflect further on that, that those returning turn up to every game and we succeed beyond one last minute scramble for a trophy.

I admit i am pleased with the signings. It looks like a strong squad for next season.
My only regret is it looks likely that Register will not been returning.
In my opinion he was a consistently hard working player who made a big contribution in defence and attack.
I admit he lacked a bit of pace causing him to be caught out sometimes but i believe he was a major positive in the team.
If he has gone then i wish him every success.

Always disappointing to see a skilled player move on, but I think our replacements are more than adequate.

I will miss Register also. I know a lot see him as an offensive defenseman and his stats show that, but to me his strength was his defensive abilities. He rarely came out of a corner without the puck.
He did have a few players get past him a few times but with the minutes he clocked its not surprising he made mistakes occasionally.
Personally I think the only D man we have had who was as good defensively as him was Ben Blood.
Offensively, I think Fournier and Hotham were better.

Think your missing Tyson Strachan on your list buddy, he was one awesome D Man.
