Apparently he and his wife couldn't settle so asked to be released from his contract. Hope he doesn't appear in any of our rivals rosters!

Wouldn't be suprised if he turns up in the EIHL. He made a huge change going to Germany after settling well in the UK.

I would love him back. Don’t care about the going missing against the big teams noise. I don’t really think the stats back that. What the stats do back is the guy is a lethal forward who is a consistent PPG payer in our league for multiple seasons. I’d have Cole back in a heartbeat. Why wouldn’t you want a league proven weapon? Previous seasons his line was too heavily relied on to produce the points and teams could focus on neutralising his line. This season we have some danger from multiple lines.

Reports have reached me that he was spotted earlier today, roller blading over the barrage eating a Subway - 12” with meatballs and melted cheese!

Very surprised to have heard this! I thought he would have been a chicken tikka and salad sort of guy, but hey-ho!

I’m sure the ownership group will be looking at what can be done if he is interested in coming back to the EIHL - he improved his allround game last season (more specifically defensively) and he would offer us something different to what we have on the roster.

What a ridiculous comment. You need your big game players to step up in crucial moments and Sanford isn't that. Players who can take games by the scruff of the neck is one of the most important things in ice hockey.

All well and good scoring 4/5 against teams like Dundee and Fife (no disrespect to any of those teams) but if he comes back and he’s on our 1st or 2nd line, he needs to be firing during the big games.

Top goal scorer of our last 2 seasons. Top point scorer in the play offs in 2/3 of his seasons. Of course we would have taken him back. But now the roster is done, where's he gonna fit? Carry a spare import all year? Can't imagine there was too much of the budget hanging around with this roster.

We just need to get a little creative with our interpretation of the IR rules/gentleman’s agreement.
You could probably drive a no.57 bus through the holes in what constitutes the Two Way contract!

I have to be honest after previously being a bit on the fence to his departure that with how the roster has shaped up Cole would fit in perfectly. We seem to have adressed the lack of grittiness in the forwards...but I perhaps feel we could be a bit shy on goals beyond the top 2 lines. Bringing back Sanford would allow either olifcheski or macdonald to drop to line 3 which could definitely rectify that issue. A 3rd line of, Barrow, Busch and Olifcheski would be a fire cracker.

Olishefski is a young player straight out of the DEL and is way too good for a 3rd line spot and our top 6 have probably signed here after being told by PR that they’ll get top6 minutes.
If Sanford does return at this late stage he has to accept he’s gonna play his fair share of minutes down the lines!
