There's been a lot of debate on here about the lack of mask enforcement from stewards. If they're not capable of doing something about abusive behaviour then they shouldn't be stewards. Is the rink just employing kids who just basically want free entry? We really don't want to end up with a situation when fans are segregated in cages like in some European leagues.
At the risk of making snap judgements & I could be wrong on this but I've only seen 3 maybe 4 security staff that I would describe as muscle. & what I mean by that is staff members who look like they can handle themselves & assert physical presence. Factor in placement around the arena & there aren't many stewards who'd want to take on rowdy fans that might turn hostile. A few years back when we had the ultras turn up from was it Liberec? I believe we basically had all the "muscle" surround them to keep them under control.

As I said yesterday there’s a lot to like about this team but we are definitely missing another goalscorer for me. 100%. I’m not talking about the games against Fife, Dundee, Manchester, we’ll be fine against those teams. I’m talking about us against the big boys. My concern is if teams close Brodie Reid down we will seriously struggle for goals. I’m not sure we’ve got the balance right up front. Dixon playing on the first line speaks volumes. I love Dixon as much as the next fan but he should not be playing on the first line.
The other risk of course is Reid gets given more & more ice time due to the need for him scoring & that increases the risk of an injury. We can't build a team around 1 player.

To be honest I suspect that the problems start at the door. If people are obviously drunk they simply shouldn't be let in.

Tell us more about this aggressive Giants supporter in the bar Kevlar? Haha. Christ they had some clowns in the back row in their block. One of them spent half the match swearing at block 13.
Just handbags and pushing a Devils fan and a very round giants fan in a very tight fitting keefe jersey. Devils fan was escorted out first then the giants fan minute later.
The security had it under control but there were a couple of season ticket holders chipping in that didn't help.

Yeah I know the Giants fan you’re on about. He was stood next to the Giants supporter that spent most of the evening swearing at block 13. Idiots

Very few stewards do anything about mask wearing, non compliance of which was the worst I’ve seen so far, last night. Never mind deal with drunken yobs, and in fairness they shouldn’t be expected to do that or someone will get hurt. For idiots like that, the security team should be brought in immediately and the yobs thrown out. Zero tolerance.

I agree, the arena management along with security should deal with behavior issues, stewards are basically safety and game marshall's.
In the WNIR I myself being bar/hospitality manager and security would approach troublesome fans and it was 'calm it or out, your choice'. No conversation, just answer.
I have to admit through all the years I've been watching and involved with the Devils the game itself has become less aggressive and the new generation of fans more aggressive.
I'm not saying all the new generation of fans not at all but it's mainly them I see around me, swearing, gestures and non compliance of masks, there are some oldies to.
Never went to BBT as I was in Greece but I can honestly say even though they are trying to promote the new era of ice hockey as family friendly the WNIR was a warmer feeling of a family fan base.
This isn't a rose tinted glasses view, this is from a professional working and fan point of view.

And on a personal point to do with booze, as stated before I asked the bar manager "do you have a bitter" they replied "yes pale ale", that's not bitter. Last week i opted for a Guinness, again the bar manager served me, they put the plastic pint on the drip tray and opened the tap and let it pour at height until pint was full.....and this is the bar manager at the end of the game with nobody else waiting to be served. I would have torn a member of my staff a new one if I saw them doing that.
Think the whole bar team need to go on a bar course especially at the price per pint we pay.
