I'm actually quite grateful for tonight. First off I brought a friend to their second ever Devils game (first was pre-season against Herlev in pre-season).....

We won. Officials made sure we all had a good time (like going to the panto) and we got to listen to Storm fans sing about the Steelers two or three times....

Which means we may have recruited another Devil. The drama, the bullshit.....it's all brilliant as LONG AS WE WIN.

Could you imagine this forum if we had lost due to some of the worst officiating I've seen in years.

I take it all back, bring back Rose and the little hairy fella that follows him!

No way this league will ever develop, even if the talent and the teams are good, when the officiating and the EIHL stuff is sooooo screwed....

(Wish I could swear!)

I loved the moment Busch stared down Durflinger in the penalty box after he scored his PP goal - pure theatre.
Thought officiating was poor as per the previous comments.
The Devils on the PK were largely very impressive.
Overall very happy with the result.

From the replay I've seen, the initial point of contact is not the head. But then Brandt's upper body contacts and drives the head in to the boards. That's checking to the head for me.
I understand what you’re saying and I think that is the referee’s rationale in making the call as the illegal check to head / neck call gives that description. However I think it’s slightly wayward interpretation. I think the intention is around if you put your hand / elbow / forearm to someone’s head and drive them into the glass. A head hitting the glass as a secondary action of a hit to the chest isn’t a check to the head. It could however be considered boarding for excessive force but would have been a minor.

It was a wrong call but I get where you’re coming from.

Awful officiating, some of the worst I've ever seen. However special teams were superb, even if it was 6 v 10 for most of the game. Last season we would lost that game.

Was never going to happen. The team has a look of real focus on the league this season and you don’t let a petty running battle with Ulett potentially influence that. No benefit to be had especially as Barrow wasn’t injured on the play. Good discipline from Devils.
With you it was never going to happen, so no surprise that it didn’t. It’s a different sport these days.

I was hoping for a reaction and I think there would have been if Ulett had started any nonsense last night, but I thought he was very quiet. And they didn‘t go after Barrow again, so the 2 points was more important.

Credit to Storm. They are difficult team to break down and will take some scalps this season. Our special teams did very well at the weekend. Still plenty to be optimistic about with players still to return. We found a way to win and that’s huge.
