Well as I have been living with a wife that has suffered the same problem for the last 6 months and is only now feeling better I can see him struggling to be fit for the start of the season.Seeing first hand how much pain that causes I got to say he must be nuts to play on as it can take months to heal.

Oh dear you go to the dark side and this is what happens.
Seriously I hope he gets better soon but, unfortunately, back problems never seem to disappear and when you are a sports person you are obviously more vunerable
If it really is that he isn't playing anytime soon.Months of rehab and then the pins and needles start. He better have good insurance cos its cost a small fortune to fix up Mrs W .
My husband did this playing rugby, and basically after an initial 8 weeks not even being able to stand up, then months of treatment and he hasn't played since!
So will be interesting to see what happens with Finner. Although the extent of that sort of injury can vary so much he may be fine.
