For someone relatively new to watching this sport can you experts out there clarify:-
1. What is the role of a bench coach?

2. Who decides man of the match?

Bench coach changes the formation and type of line during the game. He'll watch the opposition's players, if one player is particularly good/bad against his opponent he'll adjust to compensate. He will aso tell strategy to players, encourage etc.

Man of the match, I'm not sure if it's the coaches pick the opponent player.

Don't ask me why but I'm sure the last couple of years the sponsors have picked it? I could be way off though.

The Bench coach is a very important role, he calls out all line changes, ensuring the correct match-ups are on the ice against the opponents ones.

This is why icing is so crucial, as it means teams first line can come out against a weaker line from the opposition.
