The 1990 Peoria Rivermen

Coached by Bob Plager, the Peoria Rivermen not only claimed their second IHL Turner Cup championship, but also set a world professional hockey record with 18 straight wins between Oct. 6, 1990 and Nov. 22, 1990.

The team, a farm club of the St. Louis Blues, finished with a 58-19-5 record and easily won its IHL title with 121 points.

In all, the team set 41 world, professional, league and franchise records while playing before

The main word is Professional teams, not just hockey teams.

I thought Kitchener was OHL and therefore junior development and not pro.

Regardless, this is all an Elite record. Anything is just speculation until someone with some real knowledge steps in.

Says The Canadian Hockey League Have A 25 Win Streak?

If im reading that right - that is an unbeaten streak ( games ended in a draw)

and it is 18 games for a winning streak

Devils now have a 20 winning streak :D

someone on THF in the scoreboard bit reckons the steelers have got a 20 game winning streak in the elite league and if we win on wednesday we would equal it.

So how may games have we won then because i add it upt 20 but on the elite league programme friday Dave simms and G said it was 17...... There have been different things being said all the time.

Can we have something posted on the elite league website for a change, Seems we are the only club that doesnt get anything on there.

You are mixing League winning streak up with winning streak (there is also unbeaten streaks to confuse matters) the Steelers winning streak was league only, they lost cup games in that period.

Last night was 20 straight wins, 19 in league competition.

So Steelers may have 20 in league competition but lost some along the way in the cup.

A win tonight would see us equal sheffields winning streak in league games only 20.
Sheffield didn't have a winning streak of 20 did they? The previous highest for the EIHL was Belfast and we already beat that.
I believe it was only league games, they lost one in the cup in the middle of that run.

Just looking at the scorer stats on the league site. Does anybody know what the record is for points scored in a season?

For the whole of the EIHL it's Adam Calder with 125 points in 2007-08.

For the Devils in the EIHL it's Mark Smith with 90 points in 2006-07.

Remembered looking at the record wins thing a while ago and Finny quoted this on topic thread titled "Consecutive Win Record - Confused, please help!!!!".

"The record for successive wins in ALL games is 23, and was started on the 5th Mar 1989 and ended on 7th December 1989.
The record for successive wins in ALL games within an individual season is 17 from 20th Feb 1994 to 17th Apr 1994.

As OJ said, the record number of league wins is 22."

So hopefully we have got the world record in terms of winning streak in a single season, but we still need a couple more to beat I the 1989 run.
