STEELERS believe new defenceman Jonathan Zion will ice for them on Thursday night.
The 28-year-old Canadian has agreed terms and is hoping to arrive in time for Thursday's home game with Edinburgh Capitals.

He is an attacking blueliner similar to Rod Sarich, whom he replaces. Sarich needs an operation on a broken foot bone.

The champions were alerted to Zion - drafted by Toronto Maple Leafs in 1999 - by ex Sheffield defenceman (2002-3) Calle Carlsson.

The Swedish agent believes the 6ft 1ins left-shot can be one of the top d-men in the league; a view shared by Joey Talbot, who played with him at Ottawa 67's.

Zion, a 14-year professional from Nepean, Ontario, has played in Denmark, Austria and Norway since leaving the AHL and ECHL in north America.

His last team was Norwegian side Stavanger Oilers, where he scored 12+20 (32 pts)in 40 games.
