Re: what has happened to mumbles the DJ??

Mumbles was never the DJ. He was the announcer whilst Lee and Lizzi did the DJing.

Perhaps I never listen to the music during the game - but I don't remember thinking it was particularly different to before these past couple of games?

Mumbles has gone. I personally think that the new guys are getting better every week. Once the speakers improve the whole thing will get better and better.

I personally think the new guys are doing fine, however i think the intro should be changed back as this gets everybody going from the off, i used to get goosebumps when it was playing...... I know some of the players prefer skating out to it aswell.

Ok, I don’t feel the intro is top of the priorities right now but it has clearly meant a lot to many people, so here goes…

First and foremost the new guys have my full support. I had no problem with the people and the system the club had before (i.e. Mark and Lee) but the Next Generation have decided to run with this change and many other changes within the club and to date I am very impressed with the professional manner in which Matt has lead us. In fact, I’ve never felt this good about the club. From what I can gather Mark does not have a problem with not having the match night announcer role this year.

The intro itself - I actually like the music that is used but will be the first to admit it lacks crowd involvement. With the old one the crowd clapped and it really brought the fans up for the big entrance. Admittedly this intro does not do that. I don’t think it’s a case of ‘Bring back the old Intro’ as times have changed. I do feel this one needs volume and a banging beat of which the crowd can get involved. Its needs tweaking for sure but lets go forward not backwards.

The music generally I think is fine. Nice to hear some new tracks. If you don’t like rock then it’s very limited I’ll give you that but personally I’m a fan of it so it works for me. Bottom line is we all have different tastes and no matter what songs are put out there it’s not going to please everyone.

There is much to be done and I’m sure the entertainment team are working on that but give them your support rather than looking backwards. Better to work with them than against them.

P.S. I do have one little suggestion to Paul (not a criticism). ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ at the end of a victorious game. This year we hear it from the start of the track and therefore the joy of the song doesn’t kick in until the Devils are all but off the ice. May I suggest we start it as it kicks in like in previous seasons (I’m so contradicting what I just wrote).

As has been pointed out - Mumbles did not have anything to do with the music before - he was just the announcer...Lee and Lizzi sorted out the music.

Now we have a change, and I know lots of fans do not like change, but give a chance to get going before overly judging I would say.

The entertainment team are working on improving game night experience - it is not all gonna happen overnight, give the guys a chance to iron out the bugs, make improvements and put together a game night experience that we can all be proud of.

As mentioned on the other thread - this is very much a work in progress project for them - lets see where we are at come Christmas time eh? Have many of you even noticed the extra stuff like the things shown on Devils TV etc?

For what it is worth, I like the intro and I like the music being played throughout game night - but when it comes to a subjective thing like music, you can never please everyone...

Re: what has happened to mumbles the DJ??

If you're going to start a poll can we have it balanced please...

this is like something from the eliteleague - agree with everything i write or don't reply....

there should at least have been an option to keep what is in place.......

things are getting better every week - somethings work, some don't. but i personally don't want to take a step backwards regardless. I know everyone keeps saying wait until the sound system is sorted out, but i'm confident that things will be better over time

I presumed the last option was to say No to all of the above, and so basically keep things as it is - it has just been worded badly...

Unfortunately, the work and effort that has been put in by the new team is not even being given a chance because the speakers at the rink are <insert expletive here>, and PI won't pay to replace the damaged ones at present.

I can't stress how important it is to have a system that can deliver a range of bass frequencies throughout the building to generate a wall of sound - so you 'feel' the music. At the moment it just sounds like a tinny noise coming from random corners of the room.

i for one like the new intro, and like many of you i didnt like the new intro/announcers.
But the intro has grown on me and the announcing is getting better, when they changed the intro a lot of people werent going to be to happy but time moves on and changes were inevitable. We couldnt keep with that intro forever......could we? :)

Silly question here - but how can you have a poll where you can select upto 3 of the options...and then 3 options are for changing something and only 1 option is for keeping things as they are? Surely then someone that wanted things to change back to how they were etc could have 3 votes all on the same poll? But yet those in favour of keeping things can only vote once? Seems like a lop-sided voting system to me...it wasn't designed by sheffields management was it?

I know what you mean Koop11 about "dont stop me now", I was saying the same thing on saturday. The track just needs to start a little later. ;)

I do think its important to have somewhere in the intro where the fans can get involved (clap, make noise) for 2 reasons

1) get the crowd gee'd up for the game so will be likely to make more noise during the game
2) build up that energy and atmosphere which let our players know its time for business and the opposition know they will be intimidated

As much as we criticise Coventry for their cheesiness and Im not suggesting we take on that level of "participation" but its all part of the match night experience and one which helps bring people back

Love the flames though, great addition

I still don't like the intro its boring and I can't clap to it so the lead up is disappointing for me and does not set me up for the match (where I'm usually shouting my head off). I thought Mark was a brilliant announcer and it is sad to c him go but we have a new one now and he is getting a bit better but please can someone ask him to be queiter in the breaks so I can read my programme in peace:lol: Just my thoughts. :D
