Your favourite cardiff devils memory???

Been watching since the elite league began but already have loads!

The challenge cup final obviously, seeing the blaze fans silenced was great! The game sunday was nearly as good...the whole skydome in shocked silence, priceless!

Beating squealers away a few years ago when burgy scored in the last second of ot, with 10 seconds left he had the puck behind our net and charged the length me the ice to score.

Gretzky's after dinner dances was always a great laugh, franny serving everyone coz the queue was too big!

There's many more and i'm sure that by the end of the season there'll be loads more!

Devils v Racers, a slight confrontation breaks out, the usual "hold me back, hold me back" stuff, Brendan Yarema thinks the linos have hold of Mike Ware and starts mouthing off at him, but they didn't, and the "oh feck!" look on his face when he saw Mikey skating over to have a chat was priceless!

Devils travelling to Streatham for the first leg of the promotion playoff to the old HPL. WE took over their rink, even having the Echo seller outside selling football echos!

The Challenge cup was special.

Kim Alhroos on a line change. He's sat on the barrier, looses his balance and falls backwards into the bench legs in the air. Ivan Matulik calmly bends down, picks him up by the scruff of the neck and literally throws him onto the ice.

The look on Alhroos' face was priceless

Devils V London Knights. 5-0 down and came back to win 6-5. There was a lone Bracknell fan in amongst the knights fans and he was on his own cheering our every goal. Priceless :D

I have to agree with Hockey Mum about the Wembley game, when Tony Hand missed the penalty shot and when all the players just jumped off the bench and drived on top of Jeff Smith that was just the best :D

The other game that does really stick out for me was when the Devils played Durham Wasps at home on November 25th 1990 and when they BEAT Durham 10 nil at the WNIR as this was the first time that Durham had lost a game to a shut out, those where happy days!! :D

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall Rob Davidson breaking the dividing plexi-glass between the two penalty benches as he tried to get his hands on (i think it was) Peron!!

Seem to remember this was an absolute classic...

Your right. It was just after Peron had crosschecked Cullen into the boards,

Peron thought the plexi would protect him. Boy was he wrong. Never seen a player retreat so fast

haha I remember that. I was sat by the sin bins in the WNIR and Ive never seen a player turtle so fast haha. I remember peron not getting any sort of ban for that check either. Dirty Sheffield Steeers. nothing ever changes.

1) The Challenge Cup Final. What a way to say goodbye to the old barn
2) Beating Murrayfield 12-4 in March 1990 just after we had won our first league title in a game against Peterborough. It was a Friday night, Grandstand game, Murrayfield desperately wanted to prove to us that they should have won the league, a massive crowd came in and we tonked them.
3) Beating Sheffield at Wembley with the last goal scored by our Welsh line.
4) Last season away against Nottingham in the playoff quarter finals, they were confident, we had a shocking record against them, then a few minutes into the game Brad puts a huge check on one of their players and all of a sudden the momentum completely changed.
5) The London game.

ooh too many

1.Taking 13 coaches of fans to Trafford and winning the autumn trophy (god know how many years ago)
2.Coops smoking Dan Dorian at centre ice
3.All the wins at wembley
4.Shannon knocking out Simon perkins with a classic shiney elbow hit ha ha
5.Getting the coopers loosing the coopers then signing them again

and too many more best 20+ years and glad I stood outside in the massive line around the old WNIR for a season ticket

I aint really been following hockey that long but my fave memory was playing Nottingham for our place in the playoffs. Ive never seen so many fully grown men crying, the atmospere was amazing, the fans were mad and the devils just played outstanding.

Also it was the last time I took to the ice with Phil Osaer.

For me definately winning our group in tilburg '94.We were all wondering if we wouild even get a goal during the whole weekend.Boy were we wrong.
Amazing for loads of reasons. We obviously qualified,we had an amazing night on the ice after the tilburg game even though we lost.High fives with all the Dutch fans and disco on the ice.Grown men doing a 'Klinsman'and somehow not killing themselves.
During the Tilburg - Sokol game we needed if I recal a Sokol win but not by too many. Each time a goal went in for either team,we then proceded to support the other and chant their name instead
When we beat Torpedo and knew we had done it,I looked at my mate Squirt and no words were needed. We both knew what it meant.I will never forget that moment of feeling on top of the world.

A close second was destroying the Squeelers 12-1 in the Wembley final. The posse came on and chants of "Wales Wales"and the muppets all left early. This was the day before GB went to pool A to play the likes of the mighty Canada,Russia etc and that was amazing too and spent a fortnight lording it up over the Squeelers who were stupid enough to make the trip.

Wembley '90 for the best game ever at Wembley and beating the Wasps 10 nil was special too.

I think that all the early games are special to all those fans who have supported the Devils from the beginning.

Another great memory for me was the bench clearance against Nottingham :D

Oh yeah.Ross Lambert (I think)caused that and if memory serves he had a pop at MC.Full on bench clearance and even Woody having a pop.Think Dumas was fighting so that would make it 93ish.

The bench clearance would have been 1995 I think. Last game of the season. Steelers had just won the league after Nottingham bottled it. Whoever won our game would finished second and avoid the Steelers in the playoff group.

IIRC it was level with about 2 minutes to go when Cooper mishit a shot which was going wide, bounced off 2 Nottingham players and went in. The rink went mad and then the next shift it all kicked off.
I think we scored an ENG with a couple of second to go to seal victory (Dumas maybe?).
Awesome game. Still got it on tape somewhere......might well have to dig that out tonight.
