Devils 7-0 Stingrays

Dean Smith took charge of the Devils first demolishing of a team for a few weeks and the Devils didn't disappoint.
With Voth and Finnerty back from the suspension they served against Hull the previous night, the Devils were keen to capitalise on a rare away win, 7 goals later and it was safe to say they had :)
Richardson took over the captaincy for this game with Voth moving to club captain and having a remarkable return to form. With the Stingrays missing Knight through illness it was the Devils who started the better team and took the lead just 16 seconds into the first period.
Devils 1-0 Stingrays. Jarvis from Birbraer and Smith at 00:16.
The first period finished with the Devils leading 1-0 and with no moments of excitement the fans were left wondering if the Hull of last season had returned. Shots on goal were announced for the 1st period as 13 for the Devils, 1 for the Stingrays...
The 2nd period started with the Devils defending a penalty kill for 53seconds after Smith was called for slashing at 18:53. Despite killing the penalty with ease and having several powerplay opportunities it took until almost 37 minutes had passed for the Devils to double their lead and give the fans in attendance something to cheer for...
Devils 2-0 Stingrays. Miller from Finnerty and Voth at 36:56.
Just 3minutes later and the Devils had found the back of the net again, this time Latulippe grabbing a rare goal.
Devils 3-0 Stingrays. Latuliipe from Hayes and Jarvis at 39:57.
At the end of the 2nd period, the Devils held a comfortable lead of 3-0, shots on goal were announced as a more reasonable 13 for the Devils and 8 for the Stingrays.
With Michel having received a 2+10 in the second period for checking from behind it wasn't until the start of the 3rd period that he made his return. Despite more powerplay opportunities the Devils couldn't find the back of the net until Hull returned to 5 players...
Devils 4-0 Stingrays. Miller unassisted at 46:06.
With the Devils 4th goal coming after Miller had collided with the Hull netminder, it was left to Burns and Voth to sort out retribution and Voth came out on top, very on top. With both players receiving 5minutes for fighting after the puck drop it was down to 4on4 and the Devils were first to find the net again.
Devils 5-0 Stingrays. Jarvis from Finnerty and Birbraer at 47:35. PPG.
With Hull taking a raft of penalties in the following few minutes, the Devils were presented with many opportunities and this time they didn't fail to capitalise, a 6th goal again on the powerplay...
Devils 6-0 Stingrays. Birbraer from Jarvis and Smith at 50:21. PPG.
The Devils 7th and final goal again came on the powerplay, by this time the Devils were well in control and Lyle was left to his own devices in the nets...
Devils 7-0 Stingrays. Finnerty from Jarvis at 58:16. PPG.
A well deserved shut out for Lyle in the Devils nets and a fine return to home from after a 0-1 loss to the Capitals the previous weekend. Devils man of the match was awarded to Miller and Stingrays man of the match went to former Devils player Jason Silverthorn.
With 3 more games in the next week, hopefully the Devils can keep up this form...
